Erik Reed invites you into the lessons God has taught him through 15+ years of trials and pain with his son’s medical issues. Recalling stories from his experience, talking about Scripture, and sharing some laughs with co-host Brett Perkins, Erik outlines how we can live day-by-day in the midst of difficult circumstances as Hopeful Sufferers.
Erik and Brett recount the tornado that left a wake of destruction from East Nashville to Putnam County on March 3, 2020.
Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna, died in a helicopter crash along with others, just a few weeks ago. Erik and Brett dissect the response from the fans and have a conversation about how we as Christians should respond to tragedies like these.
A New Perspective
Erik shares about the new perspective he gained over the past couple of months, particularly over his "sabbatical", or leave of absence. He and Brett dive into details surrounding church service planning, and then Erik announces a big announcement at the end.
Erik was prepping for a sabbatical to begin on December 1st. As we know it, December 1st marked a new season for him and his family. In this conversation, Erik shares what his "sabbatical" looked like under the new circumstances.
Brett shares his side of the six days surrounding Kaleb's passing. From the the church and funeral logistics to other details inside the hospital room, Erik and Brett unpack even more the loss of Kaleb from a different perspective.

Great Podcast! 10/10 recommend
I don’t even like podcasts, but I love this! Awesome messages!
Gripping, Emotional and Hopeful
I have been listening to the podcast since it started and have felt like I’ve been connected to the Reed family in a whole new way. I’ve found myself in tears at times listening to the previous two episodes that have been made since Kaleb’s passing. But God is showing His power and glory through the Reed family and is sustaining them during this season. Even though I never got to meet Kaleb I praise God that he is now getting to sprint down the streets of heaven with his brand new glorified body. I’m so fortunate to be part of the Hopeful Sufferers tribe and God has taught me so much about Himself through this podcast. I’m thankful for the transparency of both Erik and Brett and how in each episode they always point everything towards Jesus and the hope we have in Him. If you or someone you know is in need of hope and you or they need to be reminded of the hope that is found in our Sovereign God then please subscribe to this podcast. You will be blessed!
I started listening to the podcast when Erik and Brett started back in January and got the chance to meet Erik at NGU Fuge this past July. This podcast continues to be encouraging to me in my own trials. Total worth the listen!!
