Finding Freedom

Dawn Morgan

Welcome to Finding Freedom, the show that helps you find your freedom. We will hear the wildly differing perspectives on what freedom is, what it isn’t, and why, how, and when it can be achieved, and also taken from us, in physical, emotional and psychological ways. We will discuss topics that may challenge you, or make you reconsider your own perspective. We will explore the many facets of freedom and the ways in which to achieve it, in life, in business, in love; are you ready to find your freedom? Freedom for me is being able to express who I am, choose the life that suits me and my personality, and being free from the ‘normal’ expectations of society. I also want the freedom to talk about topics that I don’t understand, but am curious to learn about, without judgement, political correctness, or feeling the need for self-censoring. We can only learn about things if we are free to discuss, challenge and explore.

  1. Breaking Free: Finding Authenticity and Purpose Through Self-Awareness

Breaking Free: Finding Authenticity and Purpose Through Self-Awareness

Mom, executive at GoodLeap, a multibillion dollar company, best selling author, and influencer, Kelly Resendez joins Dawn to delve into the essence of freedom and authenticity. Sharing personal journeys, they break free from societal norms to embrace self-awareness, fulfilment, and purpose. Explore confidence, worthiness, and stepping into your power to design a life of freedom. Tune in for inspiring stories and valuable insights on living boldly as your true self. KEY TAKEAWAYS Kelly defines freedom as embracing authenticity and joy, whether through family time, hobbies, or fulfilling work. It's about shedding societal expectations and embracing true freedom in every aspect of life. Emphasising the pivotal shift from seeking external validation to embracing inner truth and vision, Kelly notes this transition empowers individuals to authentically step into their power. Yet, it's not just about the decision—it's about fostering an empowering mindset and implementing effective strategies to support this newfound authenticity. Crafting a clear vision of one's contribution to the world and aligning goals, mindset, beliefs, and energy accordingly is crucial. It's about nurturing positive energy through activities that ignite passion, rather than succumbing to low energy as an inevitable outcome of daily life. Encouraging the building of confidence by continually venturing beyond comfort zones, proving personal resilience in the face of challenges, is vital. Confidence is cultivated through practice, not innate talent. Kelly suggests celebrating moments of overcoming self-doubt or fear as one would reward a puppy during training. BEST MOMENTS  “One of the greatest challenges that we have, especially as females, is a desire to explain” "We have this idea that confidence should just miraculously appear” "It's not like a relationship because ultimately, you can end a relationship” "Freedom means fully stepping into one's highest power and choosing a life of authenticity and purpose." EPISODE RESOURCES  Kelly Resendez | ABOUT THE GUEST  As a co-owner of GoBundance Women®, a membership organisation for women dedicated to achieving greatness and abundance, Kelly is passionate about helping others adopt an abundance mindset and overcome self-sabotage to achieve their goals. 2. Pushing Boundaries to Find Freedom with Rob Moore

Pushing Boundaries to Find Freedom with Rob Moore

Entrepreneur Rob Moore joins Dawn Morgan on Finding Freedom to discuss living life on your own terms. They explore controversial topics like cashless societies and imposter syndrome, emphasising the importance of embracing change and shedding old patterns. Rob shares his personal journey to freedom through accountability, integrity and strategic life design. Discover how to plant your flag with pride, confront relationships with respect, and achieve balance through mindset shifts. Rob and Dawn challenge you to push boundaries, break records, and find fulfilment in the challenges of personal growth. KEY TAKEAWAYS To Rob, freedom means living life on your own terms, at the speed you desire, without intervention from governments and central banks, while still being accountable to others. True freedom requires responsibility and accountability.  To really taste freedom, you need context - you need to experience restriction and hardship to fully appreciate freedom when you have it. Freedom is a present moment choice, not a destination.   Avoiding conflict prevents growth. You need to embrace challenging conversations and disagreements to evolve. This can be done respectfully. If you don't speak out about things you disagree with, nothing will change. Know your non-negotiables - your values, beliefs and boundaries. Articulate them. Plant your flag proudly. Don't apologise for standing up for what you believe in. Clarity on your non-negotiables allows you to live and lead with integrity. BEST MOMENTS  "Freedom is not a destination. Freedom is a present moment."  "In a way cash is a certain amount of freedom. Because let's say the government's and the central banks decided they didn't want you to leave the house because they wanted to do another lockdown. Yeah, where if money and information is all digital, they can just shut your account down."  "The more freedom you have also, paradoxically, the more responsibility you have, this is the delusion that most people don't understand." "Freedom means living life, on your terms, but being accountable to the people who rely on you."  "Just when you think you've got all your ducks in a row one's going to fall off, or someone's going to shoot one."    EPISODE RESOURCES  Rob Moore ABOUT THE GUEST  Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. 3. Finding Your Voice and Sharing Your Unique Story with Leslie Fiorenzo

    08/04/2024

Finding Your Voice and Sharing Your Unique Story with Leslie Fiorenzo

Dawn’s guest today is Leslie Fiorenzo. Leslie guides her clients to find their voice and share their unique story to grow their business. Leslie's unique approach comes from over 30 years spent in corporate environments as a human resources professional. A lifelong learner, she has achieved a number of certifications and holds a master's degree in Human Resource Development. KEY TAKEAWAYS To Leslie, freedom is the opportunity to share what you feel is important about your business and being confident in your ability to do that. When you’re scared it makes you stuck and when you’re stuck then you’re not free. Leslie advocates for coaching to unlock internal potential and prioritise future growth, distinct from therapy's emphasis on resolving past issues. She advises seeking coaching to break through barriers and progress. Leslie highlights that fear of public speaking, networking, and self-promotion is acquired rather than innate. She supports clients in overcoming these fears to effectively promote their businesses and create impact. It’s important to heed your inner champion for liberation from self-doubt. Leslie collaborates with clients to quiet their inner critic, enabling them to pursue aspirations boldly and realise their dreams.   BEST MOMENTS   “Don’t listen to that little voice inside your head that says you can’t” “Take a step back and ask, does this feel right for me?” “We just need to be persistent and get up when knocked down” “Share your light - don't be the world's best kept secret”   EPISODE RESOURCES Leslie C Fiorenzo YouTube   ABOUT THE GUEST “Early in my career I belonged to a businesswomen’s group, and they held a speaking contest. First prize was $100.  I entered, I prepared and was disappointed when I didn’t win first prize, I didn’t even place in the top 5!  A mentor of mine who was in the audience, gave me the following feedback: “You had a death grip on the podium, did you think it was going to run away?  You stumbled over your words and the two stories you told didn’t connect to the topic.” I was devastated.  It was all I could do to not cry on the way home in a car full of other women. But I was determined to conquer my fears, create stories that make an impact and craft a presentation that would wow the audience. Fast forward 10 years and my then employer sent me to present our safety program at an industry conference.  This time the prize was based on the impact of the program not the presentation, yet when people approached me afterward and gave me compliments on my delivery and the stories I shared; I knew I’d moved well beyond that timid young woman losing a speech contest years before.”   ABOUT THE HOST Dawn Morgan, hypnotherapist and business mentor, guides individuals in discovering personal and business freedom amid life's challenges. Discover her quest for freedom, resilience in adversity, and the transformative power of following one's passions. Switching Priorities and Cutting Out Unnecessary Work with Andrew Cook

Andrew Cook and Dawn discuss personal freedom, work-life balance, and entrepreneurship. They reflect on cultural differences in work ethic and productivity, sharing experiences in the military and corporate world. Andrew emphasises tailoring HR solutions to small businesses, while Dawn helps solopreneurs build their side businesses. They agree freedom means spending time and money on what's meaningful. KEY TAKEAWAYS Andrew critiques the Puritan work ethic's impact on American culture, highlighting a constant need to work at the expense of personal life. He contrasts this with Europe's healthier work-life balance. He attributes this mindset to Puritan values, leading to equating worth with productivity. Andrew critiques societal stigmas and business language, reflecting on his father's experience. In his business, Andrew simplifies HR processes for small business clients, aiming to save them time, money, and frustration. He customises solutions to their scale and requirements, eschewing overly complex systems designed for larger corporations. Andrew's mission is to streamline operations, enabling clients to focus on what truly matters for their business' growth and success. Andrew values entrepreneurship for the autonomy it provides him over his time and resources. Reflecting on past jobs, where he sacrificed family time to fulfil others' demands, he now cherishes owning his business, affording him the freedom to align work with personal values. Freedom to Andrew is having the freedom to spend his resources, his time, money, and energy in ways that are meaningful and impactful in his world. He doesn’t feel obligated to work long hours or chase promotions. He cherishes being able to have lunch with his son daily and spend time with family   BEST MOMENTS ‘There was a clear difference between what I was experiencing and what I wanted to experience’ ‘My dad was a magnificent example of working hard and having no enjoyment’ ‘I value the ability to choose how I spend my time and resources, prioritising meaningful moments with loved ones over work’ ‘Owning a business allows me to pick my clients, aligning my work with my values and creating a sense of celebration when clients have positive outcomes’   EPISODE RESOURCES Email: Andrew@aheadsupport.com Phone/Text: 1-740-277-1679 Website: aheadsupport.com LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/aheadhrsupport   ABOUT THE GUEST Andrew Cook is a human resources and business operations professional with nearly two decades of experience working with government, non-profit, and privately owned businesses. 6. Dealing With Being a People Pleaser & Being a Burnt-Out Parent

    18/03/2024

Dealing With Being a People Pleaser & Being a Burnt-Out Parent

Today Dawn is joined by Jamie Vollmoeller. Jamie is a mum, wife, group practice owner, clinical therapist, radio host, and certified clinical trauma professional. Jamie is on a mission to remind mums and parents that you are good enough and specialises in working with people pleasers, burnt-out parents, and professionals who feel chronically not good enough. KEY TAKEAWAYS Part of finding freedom is embracing the full spectrum of emotions, recognizing that happiness isn't constant, and accepting negative emotions as part of the human experience. Striving for perpetual happiness is neither realistic nor attainable for anyone.  Children often mimic the body language and emotions of their parents, reflecting their caregivers' emotional states. Parents serve as emotional regulators for their children and should be projecting healthy emotional expression, providing comfort, and offering support during challenging times.  People often strive excessively to gain universal approval, morphing into social chameleons. Yet, this facade breeds unhappiness, as authenticity gets sacrificed. True contentment arises when one embraces their genuine self, finding their tribe among those who appreciate them for who they truly are. For Jamie, freedom is the ability to be herself in any situation and feel completely safe while doing so in both mind and body.  BEST MOMENTS  ‘It was almost like I was a prisoner in my mind, I knew my thoughts were not true’ ‘As parents we are their sense of safety, if I feel safe then so will they’ ‘You’re not in control of other people, but you are in control of how you respond’  ‘Thank you for that piece of advice, but I’m going to go my own way’   EPISODE RESOURCES Jamie Vollmoeller - Long Island EMDR jamie@liemdr.com ABOUT THE GUEST  Jamie Vollmoeller is a clinical therapist, radio show host, and mom with ADHD. Jamie is on a mission to remind moms and parents that "you are good enough". Jamie has worked extensively with individuals who are experiencing emotional triggers, irritability, low self-esteem, and feeling disconnected from themselves and those around them. Jamie teaches a very effective method to help her clients work through their past so they can be focused on the present. Jamie candidly shares her proven modalities to help your audience confront their fears, ease their sadness, and create and reach new goals. For those suffering from trauma, Jamie knows firsthand what it's like to have your life back, to put your head on the pillow at night and find rest knowing that you are good enough.   ABOUT THE PODCAST Welcome to Finding Freedom, the show exploring diverse perspectives on freedom—what it is, what it isn't, and the ways it can be attained or restricted in physical, emotional, and psychological dimensions. How to Live Unapologetically with Steve Anderson

What does it really mean to be free? Former nonprofit director Steve Anderson joins Dawn to share his perspectives on embracing emotional freedom, overcoming fear and self-doubt, and living life unapologetically as your true self. Steve reflects on his personal journey to express himself openly without anxiety, gain confidence in his emotions, and let go of expectations. Find out about taking risks, making space for failure, and questioning self-limiting beliefs, the balances between freedom and responsibility in relationships, parenting, and professional roles, and making responsible choices.
