70: Freedom To Play (ft. Tara Sumrall)

70: Freedom To Play (ft. Tara Sumrall)

Welcome to a coaching conversation, where laura coaches Tara around gender expression and identity. What starts there becomes a brave conversation about the freedom to play, and permission to express.

The reflection questions at the end of the episode are:
What does it look like to be both honest & uncertain in relationships/communication with others? When was the last time you really explored your gender identity and it’s conscious expression? What conditions would you need to do that exploration again? Or perhaps for the first time? What’s the connection, for you, between this conversation and white supremacy and systems of internalized or externalized oppression? What’s the connection for you between this conversation and liberation -- individual and collective? Where do you need to give yourself the freedom to play right now? And last: what is Tara’s courage calling your courage to do, say, or be?

An investment in myself

I am enjoying this podcast so much. I often put my headphones in and listen while I reset the house after my kids are asleep. It’s some time just for me and I love how this podcast can make me think and laugh and cry. I am so deeply excited and scared for the special on death. Really looking forward to it even though I know it might be hard. Thank you for this podcast!

Needed perspective

laura brewer brings a needed introspective view of our world, and encourages us to step back and look at our impact on others. I appreciate how she asks us to examine ourselves from a critical, racial lens and figure out how to take up new ways of being.
