Every desire in your life… literally every. single. one… flows from one place —your heart. - Yet Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” - That’s why Ezekiel 36:26 says, “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.” - This is literally what being “born again” is… or as my dad would always say, that’s when God changes your “want to” Hello, I’m Pastor Daniel Wright of HOWC, and I would like to invite you to our services for the final installment of our series, “Guard the Gates,” we’re focusing on the Heart Gate—the control center of your life, and it’s titled, “The Heart of the Matter” Because what gets into your heart… will come out in your words, and your choices, which in turn, affects your direction. "Guard the Gates" | Part 3 - "The Weight of our Words"

“I’m rubber and you’re glue. Whatever you say, bounces off of me, and sticks to you.” “Sticks and Stones may ‘break my bones,’ but words will never hurt me.” I’m sure we remember those sayings as kids. Though taught that with good intentions, those sayings couldn’t be further from the truth. - Your words are not mere enunciations with varying degrees of decibels,… They are seeds. They are swords. They are life, and sometimes, they are death. - They plant, they cut, they uplift, and also teardown. Every word you speak is planting something—life or death, blessings or curses. In Part 3 of our series “Guard the Gates,” we’re talking about the Mouth Gate—because what comes out of your mouth, reveals what’s in your heart … and shapes what’s ahead of you. - You yourself, listening to me right now, just maybe.. might be living in unfortunate circumstances of this present time that were constructed and planted by words that were spoken to you in the past. This Sunday we will be confronting this very issue of ‘the weapons of our words’, …or… ‘affirming’ the ‘sweetness of our speech.’ - We will corporately and unilaterally surrender our tongue to God. Together, we will learn how to align our words with the will of God, and begin speaking life over ourselves, others, and yes, even our enemies. Job's Reward

Did God choose Job for great trials, or for great reward? Job got back double what he lost and more. Beyond the physical reward, his story was heard and continue to help people across untold dispensations of time. He may not have known "why" he went through what he did, but he knew "who" was leading him through it and would bring justice for it in the end. God is just, good, and so very faithful to us. Trust in His goodness. If its not good yet, He's no done. The Best is Yet to Come!

"Guard the Gates" | Part 2 - "Watch What You Watch"

Did you know that many of the battles you’re fighting started with something you saw? Visuals can have a huge impact on perception, and there after, reception. Your eyes are powerful. What we consistently look at will eventually begin to shape what we desire… and ultimately, who we become. In Part 2 of our series “Guard the Gates,” we’re diving into the Eye Gate because not everything deserves your attention. The enemy doesn’t always start with action…. He starts with attraction. Take note of very beginning: Genesis. The Garden of Eden. The Bible tells us, “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.” You see fall of man didn’t start with the bite it started with the stare.
