Gary Christen with a brief history in the field of astrology, how astrology reflects culture, individuals and mutation, and a forecast for the future
In this episode, we spoke with Gary Christen, a 2/4 Sacral Generator and well-known practitioner of Uranian Astrology (and its developing expression as Symmetrical Astrology). An astrologer since his teens, he is the first person in modern times awarded an accredited B.A. degree in astrology from Livingston College at Rutgers University in 1974. A professional astrologer since 1969, Gary co-founded and is the current president of Astrolabe, Inc., assisting in the development of many Astrolabe products and is an encyclopedia of astrological knowledge.
Gary takes us through a wild ride and history lesson in the field of astrology including the beginning of his astrological journey in the 60s and the many individuals who contributed to the process. He shares some background on the Uranian system of astrology and the early days of astrological computing. He emphasizes how astrology is always the product of the culture in which it was developed and how mutation often comes through a single individual. He touches on some of the challenges we’re faced with today in terms of astrological education and gives us a sense of hope for astrology and humanity in the future.

Customer Reviews
THE BEST Human Design Podcast
If you study the source material and want to hear the perspectives of people who either studied under Ra and/or are years deep in their own experiments, then you will not find better, more enlightening conversations than the ones Amy Lee and John Cole lead on the Human Design Collective Podcast. I never miss an episode and I’ve learned so much from these guys. If I could add more stars to my 5-star rating, I would!! Highly recommend!!
HD Treasure Trove!
So happy to have found a HD Podcast that I could personally resonate with. Love all the different perspectives and flavors of design that are represented amongst the differentiated guests. Even if personal views are not in alignment with my own, I appreciate that there is a space where that is respected rather than vilified. The more you fall in love with your own unique design, the more you are inclined to allow others to be theirs. Thank you John and Amy for creating a space for that.
Highly curated, in-depth interviews with devoted practitioners
This podcast is hands-down the most vital to early and experienced Human Design practitioners alike. Every conversation goes deep on what it means to live your design mechanically, bringing to life real-world experiences, a-ha moments and practical insights to inspire listeners on their path.
The gentle, burrowing energy and interview styles of the hosts is deeply enveloping. They are perfect examples of what it feels like to experience the Projector aura.
My favorite interviews have been with Ernst Wilhelm (Vedic astrologer) and Alok Díaz (the closest living "voice" and Human Design practitioner after Ra, from my perspective). These original interviews have led me to pursue additional knowledge from these curated sources to accelerate my own growth and experiment.
For reference, I'm a 4/1 MG w/Sacral Authority, a lot of integration, and individuality. I'm also on the path to professional certification, and these podcasts were a giant part of helping me get here--they offer a depth and legitimacy to the transformative power of this knowledge and science of differentiation. Human Design has found humanity when we need it most--to heal ourselves and accept our uniqueness.
