Why Your Brain Calls BS on Your Manifestation

When you read your manifestation goal and something in you pulls the other way, that pushback is information. This episode is about what's actually happening when the goal your conscious mind wants meets the old beliefs and nervous system predictions already running underneath it. Jodi walks through a practical, repeatable process for reading that internal conflict instead of affirming over it: notice, regulate, clarify, clear, rewire, act, gather evidence, integrate. The aim is to get your inner world and your real-life action moving in the same direction, because that's when things actually start to shift. In This Episode Why your brain pushes back on a goal you consciously want. The background check your beliefs, values and identity run on every intention. How the guard dog and forecaster read a goal as a prediction of what it'll cost you. When the pushback is an old belief, and when it's clarity worth listening to. The process of notice, regulate, clarify, clear, rewire, act, gather evidence and integrate. Where tapping and neuro-rewiring fit, and what they can and can't do. And why the win only counts if you let it. Can You Manifest Something You Never Imagined?

Can you manifest a life you can't even picture? This is part two of the manifestation series, and it's for the people vision boards and affirmations have never really worked for. There are two ways to manifest: some people see the outcome first and borrow belief from the picture, and some people start moving and build belief from the evidence as they go. Jodi gets into why a present-tense affirmation can feel like lying to yourself, what actually builds belief when you can't picture the future yet (backed by Albert Bandura's research on self-efficacy), and why getting something and being able to hold it are two very different things. For the self-aware, heart-led human who's done waiting to feel certain before they begin. In This Episode Why vision boards and affirmations work for some people and fall flat for othersThe two pathways into manifesting, and why neither one is the wrong way inWhy a present-tense affirmation can land like a lie, and what that's really telling youAlbert Bandura on self-efficacy, and why your own evidence shifts belief in a way a vision can'tThe research on possible selves, and how expert entrepreneurs actually begin when they can't see the endThe bit manifestation talk skips: getting something and being able to hold it aren't the same thing Timestamps 00:00 The Spark 00:46 The Two Types 01:45 Borrowing Belief From the Vision 02:41 They Stumbled Into It, Except They Didn't 04:03 There's No Wrong Way In 07:00 When the Affirmation Feels Like a Lie 08:25 Your Own Evidence Changes the Story 09:50 Even the Visionary Took the Steps 13:07 The Life You Couldn't Have Imagined 18:37 Start Closer 20:02 Wrapping Up P.S. Have We Been Using the Word Manifestation Wrong?

I love a good vision board. I also know a lot of people who've made one and then gone absolutely nowhere with it. This week we pull the word manifestation apart, because we've bundled visualising, intention setting, affirmations and goal setting into one term and then wondered why the board on the wall changed nothing. You'll see what manifestation actually is, where a vision board really helps and where it leaves you stuck, and what Gabriele Oettingen's research says about why picturing the finished outcome can drain the very energy you'd need to chase it. Then I walk you through exactly how I set intentions so the action is built in from the start, and the part almost everyone skips: the point where the lovely, controlled vision meets real life, and whether you've got the capacity to keep taking the next ordinary step when it stops feeling exciting. In This Episode What manifestation actually means, and why squashing it all into one word keeps you stuckWhere a vision board really helps, and where it quietly stops workingWhat Oettingen's research says about why picturing the outcome can sap your driveThe exact way I set intentions, with the action built in from the startWhat's happening in your brain when you set an intention this wayWhy the vision so often stalls at the first uncomfortable step, and what it takes to keep going Timestamps 00:00 The Spark 00:24 Intro 01:05 What Manifestation Actually Means 02:41 The Vision-Led Pathway 07:20 What a Vision Board Can & Can't Do 09:02 Why Picturing the Outcome Can Backfire 12:56 How I Set Intentions 17:33 What This Does in Your Brain 19:07 Why Writing It Once Isn't Enough 21:14 When the Vision Meets Real Life 22:59 Keep the Vision Board 25:14 Outro P.S: Here's how I can help you... 💌 The Glow-Up Gazette: weekly nervous system and mindset tools you can actually use, plus our monthly Glow Getter prize draw. Self Sabotage Isn't What You Think...

Part of me was relieved when it fell apart. There, I said it. That's the thing people don't usually admit out loud, and it's where this episode starts. This week we take the word everyone reaches for, self-sabotage, and pull it apart, because it's doing more damage than the pattern it's describing. You'll see why the relief you feel when a good thing falls over is the exact reason it keeps happening, why "self-sabotage" makes it sound like there's a defective part of you waiting to wreck things when that's usually not what's going on, and the four different engines that can be driving the whole thing. Then the strange part: why the pull to bail gets loudest right as the thing you want is nearly in your hands. Running underneath all of it, the reframe the episode lands on: you're not your own worst enemy, a short-term protective strategy is just beating a longer-term intention. In This Episode - Why the relief you feel when a good thing falls apart is the reason the pattern repeats - Why "self-sabotage" might be the wrong word, and what's actually happening instead - The four engines underneath the behaviour: relief, protection, conflict, and capacity - Why the pull to wreck it gets louder the closer you get to the finish line - Why "fear of success" gives you nowhere to go, and the better question to ask instead - What actually shifts the pattern, matched to whichever engine is driving yours Timestamps 00:00 The Spark 00:13 Intro 00:53 The Relief No One Admits 03:09 What Self-Sabotage Actually Is 05:00 The Moment It Happens 10:18 What's Really Driving the Pattern? 10:47 Engine 1: Relief 12:45 Engine 2: Protection 16:21 Engine 3: Conflict 19:46 Engine 4: Capacity 26:09 Why Self-Sabotage Kicks In Just as It's Getting Good 29:59 What Can You Do to Stop It? 32:29 Wrapping Up 34:34 Outro P.S: Here's how I can help you... 💌 The Glow-Up Gazette: weekly nervous system and mindset tools you can actually use, plus our monthly Glow Getter prize draw. Why You Attract The Same People - Even When You Swore You Wouldn't

You left the last one for good reason. You found someone new. And somehow you're right back in the same dynamic you swore you'd never repeat, just with a different face. This week we pull apart the word everyone uses, attract, and swap it for the one that's actually happening: recognise. You'll see why the spark you feel is often your nervous system matching someone to an old blueprint, why the steady, available person can feel flat or boring, and why the same dynamic keeps rebuilding itself even when you choose someone completely different. And running underneath all of it, the line this episode won't let go of: your nervous system recognising someone does not make you responsible for what they chose to do. In This Episode Why "attract" is the wrong word, and what your nervous system is actually doing when you feel a sparkThe mere exposure effect, and why familiar gets mistaken for safeWhy the kind, consistent, available person can feel like nothing at allHow the same dynamic shows up even at work, with people you never chose, and what that provesArrested development, minus the insult, and the one area that never got the conditions to growWhat actually rewires the pattern, and why understanding it has never been enough on its own Timestamps 00:00 The Spark 00:22 Intro 01:02 Attract or Recognise? 08:04 Your Blueprint 14:40 How to Catch It 16:56 The Unfamiliar Is a Question Mark 18:59 Where Else This Pattern Turns Up 23:18 The Second Engine: The Dynamic 27:41 Where Else This Plays Out 31:29 Your Highway 37:35 How to Change It 41:40 Wrapping Up 43:47 Coming Up Next P.S. What Is Nervous System Regulation, and Why Does Everyone Keep Talking About It?

Nervous system regulation is everywhere right now, and somewhere in the noise the actual meaning has gotten lost. Most people have it reduced to one small idea: stay calm. That's not what it means, and that misunderstanding is part of why it feels so out of reach. This episode is the clear answer. What regulation actually is, the difference between regulation and capacity, and what genuinely builds both over time. You'll meet Mia, and watch what changes across her health, relationships, and money when her nervous system has room to move. In This Episode The eras that got us here, from manifestation to mindset, and why none of them were the whole answer. What your nervous system is actually designed to do, and why activation isn't the problem. What regulation actually is, and why calm is the wrong goal. The difference between regulation and capacity, and why one tool can work and still not create lasting change.Mia's story across health, relationships, and money. What genuinely builds regulation and capacity, and how this connects to the work inside Mind Drop. The Neuroscience Of Self Worth

This episode starts with a distinction most people skip straight past: self-worth and self-esteem are not the same thing, and most of the "self-worth work" people do is actually building the wrong one. From there it moves into the real neuroscience, why the belief about your own value doesn't live in the same part of the brain as conscious thought, why that's exactly why affirmations can feel like lying, and the specific sequence required for a new belief to actually reach the layer required so change can take place. In This Episode The real difference between self-worth and self-esteem, and why most "self-worth work" is actually self-esteem workWhat the neuroscience says about where self-worth beliefs actually live in the brainWhy the affirmation feels like lying, and what's happening underneath when it doesThe four-step sequence required to build self-worth that actually holdsHow this connects to the Neuro-Regulation Method Timestamps 00:00 The Spark 00:14 Intro 00:55 Self-Worth vs Self-Esteem 01:53 What They Look Like 04:43 Crocker and Wolfe's Research 06:02 The Neuroscience 07:14 Why It Feels Like Lying 09:30 How Self-Worth Actually Gets Built 14:19 Wrap and Key Takeaways 15:20 Coming Up Next Week 15:32 Outro P.S.
