Veteran Friendly GP Practices
There are an estimated 2.4 million veterans of the armed forces in the UK, and many veterans find it difficult to adjust to civilian life. How can general practice support veterans deal with the challenges they face and access the healthcare they need?
In November we were joined by Dr Veronica Grant, a GP in Derbyshire and RCGP clinical champion for veterans' health. Veronica discusses the RCGP's accredited programme for practices to demonstrate they are 'veteran friendly'.
Practices that sign up identify and code their veterans, and appoint a clinical lead who undertakes training and other activities related to veteran healthcare. The RCGP provides accredited practices with an information pack to help increase their understanding of the health needs of veterans, and the services available to them.

Campaign Tackles Abuse in Primary Care - #WeArePrimaryCare
A campaign has been launched to help tackle a rise in abusive behaviour towards healthcare workers in primary care across the Humber area.
Repeat instances of aggression, prejudice, threats and offensive language, has led many professionals to feel dread, fear, disrespected, and questioning whether they wish to remain working in the profession.
In this episode LMC Communications Manager Jonathan Appleton speaks to John Gilbert and Alex King from Eskimosoup, the Hull-based marketing agency which has worked with Humberside LMCs to develop the #weareprimarycare campaign, which includes materials and messages to get the message across that abuse in primary care won't be tolerated.
