    Playoffs Begin- Potential Lockout

    Conversations With Cully And Conlon returns with UConn Women's Basketball Legend, Western Connecticut University Head Coach Maria Conlon. We go over the WNBA final standings and beginning of the playoffs. Maria correctly predicted how the teams would shake out, although no upsets on the horizon. Maria say's that Minnesota and Las Vegas will cruise in closing out the first round of their series. Atlanta is rolling strong, and NY with Stewie's injury could cost them a chance at a run. We also discuss Elle Delle Donne being named director of Women's USA Basketball's 3 on 3 team. She had an incredible WNBA career and is a two-time MVP. We discussed Athletes Unlimited, a 5 on 5 league that plays over the winter, another option for women's basketball players to not have to play overseas. Other topics include Angel Reese, the potential of a WNBA lockout or strike after having the highest ratings in league history. Momentum is tough to build, and even harder to stop. A break in play now could be catastrophic.

Las Vegas is steamrolling everyone on a 10 game winning streak. Maria totally believes Napheesa Collier is the WNBA MVP. Maria loves the fall, being able to watch college football, NFL, and having some tastey apple cider soon. She answers our viewers questions, and we talk about the Unrivaled Basketball: Everything Unrivaled (Women's Basketball League) expansion adding 2 new teams. Plus, the league is valued at 340 million dollars and the average player salary is $222,222 dollars. With Paige Buekers playing this winter, excitement is going through the roof. Maria got her car back thank God and is pumped to start coaching her team.     Erika Higgins, running for Board of Selectmen in Orange, Connecticut joins University of Connecticut Women's Basketball legend, current Western Connecticut State University Head Coach Maria Conlon and me. Erika is fierce, loyal and passionate, she is not one to complain when there are problems. Erika will take action, which is why she is running for this position. She wants to make changes, an impact because enough is enough in Orange. Erika is brilliant, has a wonderful family, and especially a loving mother. She sees the challenges happening in her town every day and talks about why she made a decision to run. Sure, I am biased since she has been a close, dear friend for over 20 years, but I know her exceptional character, willingness to do anything for the people she cares about, and that she is a great person. Erika and Maria discuss several issues going on in Orange. Erika highlights some of the major problems that have occurred, which could have been preventable if the right people were in place. We talk women's sports after. Maria and Erika review the huge WNBA matchup of Dallas vs Indiana. It was moved to a larger arena because of the massive audience wanting to see the first match up between Caitlin Clark and Paige Buekers at the professional level. Paige played great but unfortunately Indiana smoked them. Caitlin played well just recently coming off an injury. Paige simply does not have enough help around her. We discussed the first half of the WNBA season and expectations for how the rest of the year will play out.

    Conversations With Cully and Conlon is back with legendary UConn Women's Basketball star, Western Connecticut State University Head coach, Maria Conlon. We talk about NBA free agency and WNBA All Star game. The upcoming talks for the new WNBA Collective Bargaining Agreement have not gone well according to reports. Both sides are far apart, and this could not come at a worse time. The league is healthier than ever, ticket sales, attendance, television ratings are the highest in history. A lockout or strike could slow the momentum. There has also been talk about a conflict of interest or collusion between some of the players who represent the WNBA. If there is indeed a work stoppage, the new 3 on 3 league, Unrivalled, which had an excellent first season, would benefit tremendously. They would be the only women's pro basketball league in the United States and already pay players well, so they do not have to go overseas for extra income. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. Maria believes with a 200 million dollar a year television deal at stake, cooler heads will prevail and a deal with come to fruition.
