Emily Harrington

Emily Harrington, here! Mom, wife, retired communications liaison and Champaign, IL native bringing you a podcast from kitchen table studios in the ever evolving sometimes- boring-flatlands of Champaign-Urbana. HyperLocal(s) is a weekly pod where townies and transplants share their tales of tears and triumphs, losses and wins. The podcast was born out of a dormant journalism background mixed with genuine curiosity and the ability to listen without judgement. With two sons now in school, it’s time to ignite the fire that dimmed while my attention was fully on raising two baby boys into two young men. So, listen up to catch the characters behind our beloved twin cities of C-U. Please, please subscribe (so you know when new episodes drop) and share! Search and follow HyperLocal(s) C-U on socials!

Emily Hurth. Becoming a Foster Parent and Teaching Others How to Grieve.

I am so grateful to meet, know and interview a great human being. She gives selflessly to others and wants to make a difference in the community.  Listen as Fort Wayne native talks about boundaries and work-life balance, licensed social work, teaching a course in grief (not only in death but in life changes) and teaching a course about hospitalized children at U of I, the role of a Child-Life Specialist, displaying a passion for pediatric health care, mentoring professionally and leaving a legacy through foster parenting. She has the ability to overlook the to do list in order to prioritize mothering and teaching others. A real gift. Are you looking for a first-person testimony of your business, product or service? Anthony Pearson. Responding to Trauma and Teaching an Old Dog New Tricks, Part 1.

This sweet, soft spoken gentle man, joins me on the podcast to talk about his road to and from the air force. The good, the bad and the ugly.   Listen as this South Carolina country kid talks about the decision to go into the military, childhood and police officer parents, performing/entertaining in the military, wheelchair basketball and adaptive sports, shoe sales, gig musicianship, healing through music, the pivot to dog training, St. Joe, The Blend Spot and Crones. I couldn't believe the many layers to Anthony. The more he talked, the more I discovered about this former military man turned dog trainer.  Are you looking for a first-person testimony of your business, product or service? Lisa Rector. Matching Energy and Being a Girls' Girl.

She knew what would be interesting to talk about and kept me on track, a real pro in so, so many ways. Everyone's cheerleader and a respecter of time and energy, Lisa is a 10/10 human.  Listen as this Ohio-born girl talks briefly about her normal childhood before diving deep into the real estate industry in town, taking the real estate tests, competing against your peers and office mates, open houses, setting boundaries with your time, motherhood, being a wife to a firefighter, philanthropy and winning the Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club Dancing With the Stars event by an all-time margin! So easy to be around and talk to. The time flew by with Lisa. Are you looking for a first-person testimony of your business, product or service? Let HyperLocal(s) help. Jaclyn Loewenstein. The Drama Queen and Theater Kids Auditioning.

For about a year my son and I have been in her orbit enrolling and participating in theater-based classes. Her passion and knowledge for our local fine arts radiates from her high-energy personality.  Listen as this Chicago area born and raised city girl talks technical difficulties, the Penguin Project, practice vs. innate talent, auditioning, majoring in "anything other than drama,"  raising daughters within the arts, NYC and Broadway, internships, directing and casting, marriage, innovative online teaching during COVID, the Champaign fine arts scene and her theater programming business, Class Act. What a pleasure to meet someone so dedicated to their art and the art of our youth! Are you looking for a first-person testimony of your business, product or service? Let HyperLocal(s) help.
