I AM THE GENTRY is a witty, unabashedly honest performance memoir that traces one woman's life as she realizes her role in the gentrification of her Washington, DC neighborhood. The piece hilariously and provocatively deconstructs notions of racial and socio-economic stereotypes. Gabriel herself shrewdly redefines the meaning of community and, ultimately, implicates herself as an agent of change, for better or worse.

Cara Is the Best Kind of White Person
I didn’t know what to title this review, but it’s true. Cara is the best kind of white person—one who recognizes privilege and constantly tries to work against the systems that make it so. Her stories are entertaining and enlightening. Great podcast!
Must Listen!
After years of being a major fan of the one woman show, I am THRILLED to have the opportunity to listen to the brilliant storytelling of Cara Gabriel. The writing is effortless. Human. Hysterical. True social commentary and a peak inside DC life.
The podcast we need right now
This series manages to be both deeply personal and utterly resonant. Cara Gabriel broaches some seriously challenging topics without making it seem that way — meaning, she’s having the difficult conversation for us, & lighting a path for us to start these own conversations in our lives. I urge you to have a listen. You’ll be better for it.
TLDR; The basics: White woman reckons with privilege — reckons with grace, humor, and profundity. Not to be missed.
