    335 with Denis McBride

🚨 DENIS McBRIDE — HANGAR 13 | THE CLUB OF THE FUTURE 🚨 🏴 SCOTLAND. THE 1990s. THE RAVE REVOLUTION. In the early 90s, Scotland was at the centre of an explosion in electronic music. And in an old pavilion in Ayr, something extraordinary was happening. It was called HANGAR 13. A nightclub that became legendary. A place where thousands of young people travelled from across Scotland and beyond, every Saturday night, to experience something they'd never forget. 🎧 Ultra-Sonic. TTF. The Prodigy. Hardfloor. Ramirez. QFX. Joey Beltram. And of course, the legendary DJ Trevor Reilly. But behind the music, the lasers and the madness was a man with a vision. This week on The Hashtag Show, Scott sits down with Denis McBride, the man who, alongside Trevor Reilly, created one of the most iconic venues in Scottish dance music history. From working as a van driver and promoting small club nights in Paisley, to the hugely successful LOVE nights in Glasgow and eventually creating Hangar 13, Denis takes us right back to where it all began. 🔥 The birth of Hangar 13🎧 Working alongside Trevor Reilly🏴 Scotland's incredible 90s rave scene🚨 The legendary Hangar security dogs🎶 Ultra-Sonic, TTF and the biggest names in dance music💿 The marketing, music and magic behind the club❤️ The sacrifices, friendships and community that made it special We also talk about the incredible Mallorca Lee, why Scottish artists don't always receive the recognition they deserve, and the importance of creating something that people will remember for the rest of their lives. More than 30 years later, people still talk about those Saturday nights in Ayr. This is the story of the man who helped make them happen. 🎙️ Denis McBride — Hangar 13. 334 with Harry Miller (Forty Clothing)

👕 HARRY MILLER — FORTY CLOTHING From a three-year-old boy drawing a monster… to one of Glasgow’s most recognisable independent clothing brands. This week on The Hashtag Show, Scott sits down with Harry Miller, founder of Forty Clothing, for a proper deep dive into the story behind the brand — and the man behind it. Harry talks about his early years in Glasgow’s fashion and club culture, his 20 years with Cruise, DJing, discovering his creative identity and the unlikely beginnings of Forty after his son Bryce drew the monster that would eventually become the brand’s iconic logo. But this isn’t just a success story. We get into the highs and lows of building something you genuinely love — from pop-ups and basements to Royal Exchange Square, flagship stores and expansion, through to closing the city-centre store, restructuring the business and asking some difficult questions about what comes next. ❤️ Family👕 Fashion & Glasgow culture🎧 Rave and club culture🏴 Community📈 Building Forty📉 Success, setbacks & starting again🧠 Imposter syndrome & self-belief❤️‍🔥 What happens when your business becomes part of your identity Harry also opens up about people-pleasing, giving too much of yourself away, protecting your creativity and ultimately realising that sometimes making something smaller can actually bring you closer to why you started it in the first place. Funny, vulnerable and incredibly open — this is much more than a conversation about clothes. 🎙️ Harry Miller. Forty Clothing. 333 Solo Gibbo "Sweeney, Baynes & Danny's C Bomb"

Sydney Sweeney. Bayne’s the Bakers. Danny Dyer. MobLand. Nigella Lawson. Five subjects that have absolutely no business appearing in the same conversation. Welcome back to Solo Gibb. This week Scott locks himself in a dangerously overheated podcast studio and attempts to make sense of another completely normal week on planet Earth. It doesn't go well. Sydney Sweeney has caused another internet meltdown — apparently attractive women are dangerous again — which naturally leads to a discussion about advertising, outrage culture and why sometimes you need to accept that something just isn't for you. Then, somehow, we stumble upon perhaps the greatest advertising campaign never made: 🥐 Tom Hardy. As Bane. Advertising Bayne’s the Bakers. "I was born in the dark..." Someone at Bayne’s needs to make the call. Elsewhere… 🔥 Bayne’s vs Greggs — and why it's not even close🔥 The increasingly exhausting business of everyone being angry at everything🔥 Danny Dyer enters the political conversation🔥 Why politicians might benefit from occasionally speaking like actual human beings🔥 The cost of simply existing in Britain🔥 Why streaming services need to STOP releasing one episode a week🔥 MobLand🔥 Bake Off returns🔥 Nigella enters the tent🔥 And the search begins for a butcher, a baker and a candlestick maker to complete the greatest month of podcast guests ever assembled. It's ranting. It's rambling. It's wildly unnecessary. It's Solo Gibb. 🎙️ THE HASHTAG SHOW Everyone's welcome. 332 with Robert McLean (Part 2) - The Untold Story of Ultimate Buzz

The story of Ultimate Buzz continues — and this time, Robert McLean tells the part he's never really told before. In Episode 332 of The Hashtag Show, Scott sits down with Rab McLean for Part 2 of their conversation — moving beyond the glory days of Scotland's rave explosion and into the complicated story of what was happening behind the scenes. Rab talks openly about his relationship with Callum Bright, the transition of Ultimate Buzz from two young guys travelling Scotland as a DJ and MC into one of the biggest names in the scene — and why something he once loved eventually became something he hated. For the first time in this depth, Rab discusses the creative frustrations within Ultimate Buzz, discovering the business happening around him, money and royalties, the DJ tapes being sold without his knowledge, turning down a six-month trip to Australia and ultimately deciding to walk away from something he'd helped build. But this isn't a story about settling old scores. It's about two young men who built something together, became like brothers, made mistakes, fell apart — and never quite got the opportunity to properly put things right. Rab recalls unexpectedly meeting Callum years later and the conversation that followed: an acknowledgement of what had happened, what had gone wrong and even the possibility of getting back into the studio together. It would be the last meaningful conversation they ever had. We also hear how Rab went on to prove himself creatively, releasing two EPs that reached the Top 10 of the Scottish dance charts, the origins of The Deejay Project and why, more than 30 years later, he's still making music with people he considers family. This is the other side of the Ultimate Buzz story. The success. The arguments. The mistakes. The friendship. The fallout. And the question that can never really be answered: What might have happened if Rab and Callum had found their way back to each other? 🎙️ THE HASHTAG SHOW – EPISODE 332 ROBERT McLEAN – PART 2 Everyone's welcome. 330 "Drug-Sniffing Rottweilers Could Save Glasgow"

This week’s episode was supposed to be a brilliant three-hour conversation with Zoe and Kev from Lost Soul Tattoo Collective. It is not. Because Scott has, once again, discovered that owning thousands of pounds worth of podcast equipment does not automatically make you a sound engineer. The cameras were pointing at foreheads. The audio was destroyed. And an entire interview disappeared into the great Hashtag Show technical graveyard. So instead… it’s time for a solo episode. And things get out of hand almost immediately. 🐕 Could drug-sniffing Rottweilers clean up Glasgow? 🍄 The terrifying drug stories we were told growing up 📱 Why social media might be better if nobody could comment, like or DM anyone 📺 Why podcasting was originally invented for people with faces for radio 🍺 Getting older and discovering that a night out now requires a three-day recovery plan 📱 Scott’s increasingly complicated relationship with Apple 🎟️ The explosion of online competition companies — and whether anybody actually wins anything 🎙️ Plus an update on the podcast, upcoming guests and the launch of our ROAD TO 1,000 campaign. The Hashtag Show is currently closing in on 1,000 YouTube subscribers and we need your help to get there.
