I’m listening to the Oklahoma City bombing episode. I was 2 blocks away from the bombing. We lost a dear family friend and many of my coworkers had children in the YMCA daycare. This day was horrific, absolutely terrifying. You gentlemen have done an amazing job of reporting this tragedy succinctly. Thank you for all of your amazing reporting.
Great podcast!

TCG has Tanked - Long Time Listener
Apr 13
UPDATE April 2025)… Checking in. For some reason I missed listening to Nic say, “Grab a chair, grab a beer, let’s talk some true crime…” so I decided to listen for the sake of nostalgia. When “The Captain” said, “we’re like a fine wine, we’re get better with age…” or something to that effect, I must disagree. The show is okay, but the success must be attributed to a relatively low standard accepted by listeners. The guys (still) notoriously mispronounce common words and place names (simple preliminary googling can help one properly pronounce things), run laboriously long pontificating about subjects in which they clearly lack expertise. Almost five years and the basic things you’d expect to improve have not. They are complacent, oblivious to their own shortcomings as professional hosts, as many oblivious podcasters seem to be. That’s not to say that they aren’t great people, clearly the hosts care about the good in humanity, and they enjoy their beer. Maybe that’s why I still listen every few years. UPDATE (October 5, 2020)… Boooring. I wonder why I still listen. Honestly the best part of the show is the introduction, after that we are presented with extraneous dialogue, poor reading, and idiotic commentary by the captain. Most episodes are two parts now, which means more commercials and more time to listen to these guys babble. UPDATE (May 28, 2020): Most of the time I like the cut of their jib but I have to say that during the first Ahmaud Arbery episode I sat dumbfounded as I listened to the Captain ramble on with completely inaccurate information, bumbling through his opinions about the case. It was embarrassing. I was actually surprised to see TCG cover this situation so soon, and they probably shouldn't have touched it at all. Not sure if I'll listen anymore. Used to like the show but it's not as good as it once was. Previous review updates: Too many advertisements these days. Music and voices are adversely affected by over-compression. The voices sound squeezed unnatural, and music suffers from pumping. Otherwise nice tracks. UPDATE: Not digging the new dramatization approach. Hopefully the multi-part Shaker Heights thing is a one-off. The Captain is not a voice actor. If I want audio theater drama there are plenty of options out there. TCG was two guys talking about true crime. Please get back to the format for which so many people enjoy the show.

TCG was my Gateway podcast

I had to come back and hear Nick and Captain for old times sake. I listened for years until I stopped True Crime pods all together. I became way too jumpy in the middle of the night... I still think they’re the best to do it.
My favorite podcast for a reason

Not sure what all the hate is here; this has been my favorite podcast for 2-3 years now and I always seem to be coming back to it. I love their banter as it keeps me engaged (if you don’t like a little dry humor then that’s a you issue y’all) and listening eagerly.
Love this podcast
