(0:06) Welcome to the show where we dive deep into movies, TV, and games we keep. (0:12) Cars where they pop, culture on our minds. (0:15) A podcast where entertainment binds. (0:17) Exploring worlds of fantasy and fun. (0:20) Join us now, the journey's just begun. (0:23) Just begun! (0:26) Oh! (0:27) Oh! (0:30) Oh! (0:32) Oh! (0:35) It's that time, it's Media Clash time, Volume 3, Episode 2. (0:40) I'm Wayne, as always, joined by... (0:43) And we're going to talk to you about some of the announcements that have come out in (0:46) the last week or so since you've last been graced with our presence. (0:51) The big thing that happened, we had San Diego Comic Con, which happened around the last (0:56) time we did an episode. (0:59) But the big thing was, D23, this week, well this past weekend, and they announced some (1:10) things going forward. (1:12) Like we said last time when we were talking about some stuff, that they were going to (1:18) save their Disney Plus stuff for D23. (1:24) If you love sequels, Disney's got you covered. (1:27) And again, I think, here's the thing, and I looked at this when I saw what they were (1:34) doing, what issues are they dealing with right now? (1:38) They are dealing with characters and designs going into the public domain. (1:43) So, the only way to keep that from happening, really, is you have to change things up, which (1:48) is why we're getting live action versions of all those old shows, because then you now (1:53) still own, so like the Snow White that comes out, they are going to own that copyright (2:01) for the next 90, 95 years. (2:05) So anything in that movie, that version of Snow White, is theirs until 90, 95 years from now. (2:13) The Steamboat Willie movie, I think, comes out next week. (2:17) And again, I could go into a whole diatribe of why I think, the ability to, I don't (2:23) understand, I don't get the ability for something to go into the public domain. (2:27) I don't agree with it, because what has Blood and Honey, this horror movie version of Steamboat (2:35) Willie, because I think I saw the trailer for that. (2:40) Yeah, there's that, the Bambi. (2:42) Like the Bambi, what does that add? (2:44) You're not adding anything to that copyright. (2:46) You're literally making money off of people going, oh, it's the horror version of, like (2:51) you could have made a horror version of that. (2:53) Like, the problem is you couldn't use those names. (2:56) And nobody's interested in your movie, your horror, your teddy bear murder movie, unless (3:04) it's called Winnie the Pooh. (3:05) Unless he's called Winnie the Pooh. (3:07) If it was like, Billy the, you know, brown bear, like nobody gave a shit about it. (3:14) But you had to, you're using that Winnie the Pooh name. (3:17) I don't know, the new craze in horror now is killer androids. (3:21) Oh, we have, I've not noticed that. (3:24) The, um... (3:25) Well, I mean, AI is always going to be, like, next to Boogeyman, because now you have that (3:29) smart house movie. (3:31) The smart house movie already came out. (3:34) And then you have, you have a, um, the Megan Fox. (3:40) I haven't seen that. (3:41) F*****g android movie. (3:45) Yeah, no, I haven't, I haven't seen that one. (3:48) I think Apple, Apple TV's doing a TV show about, uh, like a little Japanese house robot (3:56) that kind of goes nuts. (3:59) I mean, that's... (4:00) But all that's being put into the Megan crazy AI universe to where I'm thinking they're (4:08) going to all team up at one point. (4:12) Because why won't they? (4:13) So dumb. (4:14) Everybody wants to do their Avengers movie. (4:16) Well, I mean, it's, here's the problem. (4:19) And what we, what we, the same, the criticism people had of all the X-Men movies. (4:24) Like, you exist in a world where all these other characters exist, so they should be there. (4:29) It's not like DC where everything happens separately. (4:33) Like, Batman and Superman don't cross over that much. (4:36) You know, DC characters don't cross over that much. (4:39) Marvel characters, on the other hand, cross over all the time. (4:43) Yeah, because they're all in the same city. (4:44) Yeah. (4:45) That's what I don't think people understand, and they give it shit. (4:48) I'm like, no, this should be how it is. (4:50) Like, Spider-Man should run into Daredevil all the f*****g time. (4:55) You know, the Punisher is always on Daredevil's f*****g nerves. (4:59) You know, things like that. (5:00) Like, that is a thing. (5:02) But we never got it before, and now everybody's like, oh, everything's got to be pushing the (5:06) next thing. (5:07) Like, that's f*****g how comic books work. (5:10) One comic book issue leads into the next. (5:13) It's an ongoing, continuing story. (5:15) There is no such thing as a truly one-off story that doesn't matter, unless it's labeled (5:21) What If or Elseworlds. (5:25) So, some of the non-Marvel stuff that got announced there was... (5:35) The live-action Snow White that everybody already tried to cancel. (5:40) What's crazy is they were playing... (5:41) So, originally, Peter Dinklage gave it shit. (5:45) Yes. (5:46) So, it looks like they completely got rid of all those actors that were playing the dwarves. (5:51) Yeah, now it's like AI. (5:52) Now it's all, like, computer-animated dwarves, and it's like, all right, Peter, you want to (5:57) complain? (5:58) So, now no actors are playing the dwarves. (6:00) Actors got jobs. (6:02) Moana, too. (6:04) I'm okay with... (6:05) I liked Moana. (6:06) I'm okay with a sequel to that. (6:10) Next, the live-action Lilo and Stitch, because every cartoon now has to be live-action. (6:14) Yeah, but I want to see a live-action. (6:16) I want to see a fully visualized 3D Stitch. (6:21) Disney went in and changed a lot of shit from the original cartoon. (6:25) Yes, because they changed... (6:27) I know... (6:28) Was it before 9-11 or after 9-11? (6:30) They had to play the... (6:32) In what was released or whatever, it was a spaceship flying through and shit, but in (6:38) originally, it was an actual plane flying through a city, and they f*****g changed that. (6:43) Like, there was a lot of stuff that they changed just because they do. (6:47) I mean, it's just like when we went and seen... (6:49) What the hell was the last movie we went and saw? (6:55) I don't remember, but the trailer for Captain America Brave New World was on it, and they (7:01) changed the edit of the trailer. (7:05) For what? (7:06) So, they no longer show Ezekiel taking shots at Ross in the trailer, because it was like (7:15) two weeks after that dude took a shot at dipshit, so they went and re-edited the trailer. (7:23) Yeah, I can see that. (7:26) But again, people are stupid, and they'll be like, (7:29) Oh, they're making light of it. (7:31) Like, no, a*****e. (7:32) That's a storyline that's been around. (7:35) This kind of shit is in stories. (7:40) Incredibles 3 got announced. (7:42) Toy Story 5. (7:44) I do like the premise of Toy Story 5. (7:46) Yeah, kids now are... (7:48) Because I know I saw one of the channels saying, (7:53) Oh, well, they could have done that in all of them. (7:55) There's video games that have been in all of them, but it's different. (7:59) You have little kids being entrenched with the cell phone. (8:04) Because clearly, the kid that Andy gave the toys to is on an iPad, and they're literally (8:10) staring at her from the bottom of the bed. (8:12) They moved around while she was there, and she's just that oblivious to it. (8:16) I think you could get a good story out of that. (8:21) Frozen 3, which is a given. (8:23) I'm not. (8:23) It makes too much money. (8:24) It makes too much money. (8:25) I haven't watched. (8:26) I've seen the first one. (8:27) I have not seen the second one. (8:30) Zootopia 2. (8:31) I saw the first one. (8:32) I think the second one should be good. (8:38) Skeleton Crew, which we talked about Star Wars-wise. (8:41) Don't we miss the other Disney thing is the prequel for Lion King, which I think is going (8:48) to be- (8:49) Actually, I'm interested. (8:50) They already announced that, though. (8:52) They already had a trailer for that. (8:53) No, the trailer came out at D23. (8:55) I thought they had a trailer before, like a teaser trailer. (8:58) Maybe it might have been a teaser. (8:59) No, this is literally- (9:01) I think the teaser was just basically money shots of the lions and stuff like that. (9:06) This is literally a story trailer. (9:09) Because Mufasa is basically- (9:13) He's a nobody. (9:14) No, no, no. (9:14) He becomes king. (9:18) Not Noah. (9:22) I'm a bad Jew. (9:23) I don't remember the name of this story. (9:25) He's leading them out of Egypt. (9:27) Moses? (9:27) He's Moses. (9:28) Because they find him in a river. (9:29) Well, from what I've read- (9:32) They adopt him. (9:34) But they literally find him in the river. (9:36) Yeah, Scar basically trains him and stuff, and then he becomes king. (9:42) And it's like, I kind of understand where Scar- (9:45) Yeah, Scar got passed over. (9:48) I get why he teamed up with the hyenas. (9:50) I saw it, and I'm like, he's Moses. (9:55) They did Disney Legends now, the first year. (9:59) And basically, it was Harrison Ford, John Williams. (10:03) God, who else? (10:04) Jamie Lee Curtis. (10:06) Was it Jamie Lee Curtis? (10:06) Miley Cyrus. (10:09) It's people who've been in- (10:11) Frank Oz. (10:12) Yeah, it's people who have been in Disney stuff for years, is basically who got it. (10:19) But really, Miley Cyrus, she just had that one show. (10:22) Who? (10:23) Miley Cyrus. (10:25) But it was on the air for a long time. (10:27) And she got on stage and apologized for her behavior from 2013 to 2016. (10:32) Don't. (10:33) She's like, I went a little crazy after trying to distance myself from Disney. (10:38) Like JoJo- whatever the f**k her name is. (10:41) Yeah, she's going absolutely nuts. (10:43) They all do it to try and ditch that
