    In an age where we check our phones nearly 200 times daily, spending over three hours a day staring at screens, we face a profound spiritual question: What are we sacrificing in our pursuit of digital connection? This message challenges us to examine how technology has fundamentally altered human behavior more than any invention in history, including the wheel or automobile. The sobering reality is that if we live to 80, we'll spend 11 years of our lives looking at screens. Scripture calls us to be careful with our time, as Ephesians 5:15-16 reminds us to live wisely and make the most of every opportunity. The spiritual hazards are real: we waste precious, irretrievable time; we become seduced by worldly values amplified through social media; we grow addicted to approval from others rather than seeking God's approval; and we become distracted from what truly matters. The story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10 presents a powerful contrast: Martha was distracted by many things while Mary chose to sit at Jesus' feet, which Jesus affirmed as the better choice. We must ask ourselves honestly: when given the opportunity to check our phones or sit quietly at the feet of Jesus, what do we choose? This isn't about rejecting technology entirely, but about recalibrating our priorities and recognizing when our tools have become our masters.
