A group of friends, a disc of anime, a bottle of wine...better make it two. We're an anime podcast taking a look back at some older anime titles on physical media, and seeing if they still hold up or not. Sometimes time lets us appreciate overlooked titles, while other instances require us to remove those rose-tinted glasses. So grab a glass of wine and have a listen.

Episode 242 - Blonde Juan Dorito (Starship Troopers 1 of 3)

On this episode, join hosts Ed, Garrett, Dennis, Karen, & Kate along with returning guest Ryan as we discuss our surprise miniseries, the 1988 Starship Troopers OVA. As we're taking a small break from Rayearth, we're going to cover this 6 episode OVA over the course of the next 3 podcast episodes. Since this was never released in the US, you'll have to search for it on YouTube or similar video platforms to see it. Unlike the late 90s film, these soldiers have power armor to use! But before Johnny Rico can pilot one, he has to finish basic training first.  0:00:00 - Intro & Some Anime News 0:09:55 - The Watchlist 0:31:06 - Our Starship Troopers History & Production Notes 0:52:13 - E1: JOHNNY 1:18:02 - E2: HENDRICK 1:44:15 - Voices, Final Thoughts, & Kanpai Special thanks Ryan for joining us on this episode! Episode 237 - Deus Ex Mokona (Magic Knight Rayearth 1 of 12)

On this episode, join club members Dennis, Ed, Kate, & Caitlin for the first of many Magic Knight Rayearth episodes. Remember way back when we covered The Vision of Escaflowne? It's taken this long to go over another isekai series that features mecha. But this one also has magical girls with a twist! Listen in as we discuss our teen heroes travelling through Cephiro, being really mean to a young adult woman, there's no time to explain, is Ferio the Joker, all things as Mokona wills it, and shoulder pads for days. Also, it's great to have Caitlin back for this batch of episodes, as she also brings up some key manga differences. 0:00:00 - Intro & Some Anime News 0:13:41 - The Watchlist 0:48:32 - MKR Production Notes & the Club's History 1:04:40 - E1: The Birth of the Legendary Magic Knights! 1:36:31 - E2: Presea, the Master Smith in the Forest of Silence 1:50:45 - E3: Ferio, the Handsome, Mysterious Swordsman 2:16:14 - E4: Alcyone, the Vengeful Sorceress 2:37:02 - Voices, Final Thoughts, & Kanpai You can support the show by donating to our Ko-Fi through the link below or purchasing Magic Knight Rayearth on Blu-ray through our Amazon affiliate link: https://amzn.to/4wVGUxU Dennis: @ichnob | Ed: @ippennokuinashi | Kate: @taikochan | Caitlin: @kouject Linktr.ee | Ko-Fi | RSS

Episode 236 - Three Movies in a Trench Coat (Digimon: The Movie [US])

On this episode...hey wait a minute, we've seen these movies before! That's right, it's time for the triple-movie compilation film known as Digmion: The Movie, for North American audiences. And for better or for worse depending on your tastes, it's a whole new music track including some late 90s and early 2000s pop hits. So how does this hold up compared to the original three? Join Dennis, Ed, Karen, & Kate as we discuss it! 0:00:00 - Intro & Some Anime News 0:17:58 - The Watchlist & Spring 2026 Final Thoughts 0:36:44 - Angela Anaconda with Digimon? 0:41:50 - Willis Was There the Whole Time! 1:16:00 - Final Thoughts & Kanpai You can support the show by donating to our Ko-Fi through the link below or purchasing Digimon The Movies 1-3 Collection on Blu-ray through our Amazon affiliate link: https://amzn.to/4v4zKqp Dennis: @ichnob | Ed: @ippennokuinashi | Karen: @ryacosplay | Kate: @taikochan  Linktr.ee | Ko-Fi | RSS

It's part 2 of our Digimon Adventure triple feature with Digimon Adventure 02: Hurricane Touchdown, featuring hosts Dennis, Ed, Karen, & Kate. It's Team 2's time to shine plus an American Digidestined? Don't worry, he can speak Japanese too thanks to an ex-girlfriend. It's light-side twin versus dark-side twin in 60 minutes of an American travelogue, and all of the armor digivolutions you could shake a stick at (with only a few months of episodes from season 2 as a basis). Other talking points include frequent flyer miles, sponsored by Mazda, sponsored by Northwest Airlines & KLM, visiting New York, visiting Denver, and riding the rails. 0:00:00 - Intro & Some Anime News 0:09:06 - The Watchlist 0:20:47 - Hurricane Touchdown Production Notes 0:29:22 - The Great Debate: Choco versus Gummy 1:00:45 - Not a Summer War, but a Summer Memory 1:25:50 - Voices, Final Thoughts, & Kanpai You can support the show by donating to our Ko-Fi through the link below or purchasing Digimon The Movies 1-3 Collection on Blu-ray through our Amazon affiliate link: https://amzn.to/4v4zKqp Dennis: @ichnob | Ed: @ippennokuinashi | Karen: @ryacosplay | Kate: @taikochan  Linktr.ee | Ko-Fi | RSS
