After years helping her dyslexic, distractible son after school, Kathy began homeschooling him in fourth grade. Homeschooling let her customize education to his interests and strengths, while addressing his weaknesses. The results made his neuropsychologist declare that homeschooling was the best thing for him. Other parents began seeking Kathy's advice, and she began speaking. After her son's homeschool graduation, Kathy interviewed 64 parents who also homeschooled students with diagnosed learning disabilities. From those interviews, her experience and study, Kathy wrote Homeschooling Your Struggling Learner. This handbook helps parents or anyone helping children or teens with learning challenges, including attention issues, dyslexia, other learning disabilities, autism, and giftedness.
