Magician on Duty

https://linktr.ee/magicianonduty Some projects shout; others whisper into being. Magician On Duty is the quiet kind. Launched by Adrian in 2016, the name hangs like a note on the door: someone’s here, something’s unfolding—stay if you’re patient. It rewards attention over haste, hinting that endings might arrive slowly, or not at all. The path was deliberate narrowing: slower tempos by design, softened edges, focus on passage rather than arrival. Sets became long, unbroken lines—anticipation to suspension to gentle release, no forced peaks. Early hours once sidelined became the emotional core; silence, tension, and space turned into essential language. The project soon spread beyond performance. The Magician On Duty label, started the same year, has quietly gathered over 12 million streams, 840 playlist placements, 7.7 million reached listeners, 340 chart entries, and nearly 70,000 followers across platforms. Deep support comes from Paco Osuna, Damian Lazarus, Nick Warren, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Acid Pauli, Mira, Matthias Meyer, Madmotormiquel, Eelke Kleijn, Sébastien Léger, Audiofly, YokoO, Lost Desert, Kora, The Organism. Metrics are only the shadow. Recent years brought five Beatport #1s, consistent Top 100 entries, and front-page features in Deep House, Organic House, Downtempo, and Indie Dance. Growth flows from coherence, not novelty—every release echoing the same calm reverence for timing and restraint. Adrian carries this spirit globally: sets across Europe, North America, Caribbean, Middle East—clubs, festivals, deserts, pop-up cities. Shared decks with YokoO, Tim Green, Brian Cid, Nico Stojan, David Hohme, Robbie Akbal, Dave DK—fellow believers in duration and patience Key gravitational points: Burning Man (2019–2022), playing camps like Opulent Chill, Pink Mammoth, Vampire Empire, Square One (Eden Art Car), where listening became a communal ritual. Other stops—Love Burn (Miami), SXM Festival (St. Maarten), Bucht der Träumer (Germany), Echoes From Agartha (Türkiye), Playa Playground (Las Vegas), Richkovyi Rave (Ukraine)—expand the map without breaking the spell. The connecting thread is method: no spectacle, tracks placed like careful sentences, meaning rising in the silences between, endings left open as if the story simply continues elsewhere. Adrian shapes every layer—sound, visuals, atmospheres, words—all in quiet conversation. Since 2016: no rush, no shortcuts, no myths. Just a patient, attentive practice that keeps unfolding wherever people still listen.

    Savaggio [Journey Series]

MAGICIAN ON DUTY JOURNEY SERIES: SAVAGGIO — LIVE AT CHATEAU PERCHÉ The latest Magician On Duty Journey Series comes from Roberto Savaggio, recorded live at Chateau Perché Festival in France on July 4th, 2026. Berlin has long been Savaggio’s base, but nomadism is perhaps a better description of his musical geography. His sets move between live strings, electronic rhythm and improvisation, with the violin functioning less as an ornament than as another voice within the groove. He calls the approach “deepstring”. Savaggio’s history with Magician On Duty dates back to 2021, when he joined Canadian producer Kostiya for Ellipsis, a collaborative EP built around dubby textures, fragmented strings and melodic house. The release also featured remixes from Wareika and Ki Ya Tori, marking an early meeting point between Savaggio’s live instrumentation and the label’s psychedelic, organic side. Since then, his sound has travelled considerably further. He has appeared at Berlin institutions including Kater Blau, Ritter Butzke and Sisyphos, as well as Chateau Perché, House of Yes in New York, Meadows in the Mountains and a number of less conventional settings. His productions and collaborations have surfaced on labels including Traum Schallplatten, Suprematic, Submarine Vibes, Natura Viva and Magician On Duty. In 2025, he also launched [nomnomnom] with Dark Arps. This recording captures Savaggio in a setting that suits his approach: a festival built around discovery, where the boundaries between performance and dancefloor tend to become less fixed. Rather than treating the violin as a separate element, he folds it into the electronic framework, allowing phrases to emerge, disappear and return as the set develops. Recorded in France on a summer night, this is a document of that exchange between player, machine and crowd. The Journey continues. SPEYS [Journey Series]

Magician On Duty returns to Berlin-based producer and music selector SPEYS for a new installment of the Journey Series. Since 2020, SPEYS has been operating somewhere outside the usual genre grid. His music moves through deep house, acid, indie dance, organic grooves and mid-tempo territory, but the distinctions tend to disappear once the music is in motion. What remains is the groove, patient, hypnotic and quietly insistent. For this Journey Series episode, SPEYS enters that undefined space once again. The mix unfolds like a passage through unfamiliar terrain. Nothing is announced, nothing is forced. One moment gradually gives way to another, with rhythms appearing almost from the shadows and disappearing before they can be fully understood. Familiar sounds become slightly distorted, unexpected connections begin to surface, and the line between one mood and the next becomes increasingly difficult to locate. There is a deliberate sense of restraint throughout. SPEYS leaves enough space for the music to breathe, allowing small details to become significant and repetition to take on a ritualistic quality. The journey is less about reaching a climax than about losing track of where you are. This is perhaps the defining quality of SPEYS' work, an attraction to the spaces that exist between things. Between darkness and light. Between movement and stillness. Between the familiar and the unknown. His previous appearance on Magician On Duty came through “In Between”, an EP that explored the same territory from a production perspective, moving between acid, organic house, indie dance and mid-tempo boogie. The release received support from Deer Jade, Joyce Muniz, I Promised Mom, Robbie Akbal and Nhii, further connecting SPEYS' music with artists exploring the less obvious corners of the dancefloor. The new Journey Series episode continues that exploration, but this time the destination is deliberately obscured. Out Now: Konstantin Kobra - Need Yo Luv [Magician On Duty]

Pre-Order or Pre-Save: https://go.protonradio.com/r/rleOBfJ4tp1xE Konstantin Kobra arrives on Magician On Duty with “Need Ya Luv” a slow-burning transmission for the hour when daylight begins to disappear and the night has not yet decided what it wants to become. Warm bass rolls beneath elastic percussion. Soft electric piano glimmers through the haze. Fragments of a voice drift in and out of focus, carrying the simple confession: “I need your love, you're the only one.” Familiar words, perhaps — but here they feel like a message intercepted from somewhere beyond the visible world. The groove never hurries. It bends, breathes and slowly pulls you inward, dissolving the edges between rhythm and sensation. When the kick disappears, lush chords and distant synths leave the track floating somewhere outside of time, suspended for a moment before the beat returns and gently brings the body back to earth. There is a sense of distance in Kobra’s music. After stepping away from the accelerated rhythm of the industry, he disappeared to a small island in South Asia, building a studio high in the mountains and turning inward to find his own frequency. Out of that solitude came a language where analog warmth meets minimalism, acid traces dissolve into deep hypnotic rhythms, and the physical begins to blur with the dreamlike. In little more than a year, that sound has travelled far beyond the mountains, appearing on labels including Diynamic , Glasgow Underground, The Gardens of Babylon, Multinotes, Rummel and Dobar House, while finding its way into the sets of Solomun, &ME, Offaiah, OMRI. and Ferreck Dawn. The bass whispers beneath the skin. The stars lean closer. The horizon dissolves into velvet, and somewhere between one beat and the next, the dancefloor becomes a doorway. Step through: I Need Ya Luv.

Magician On Duty b2b Dario Klein @ Zum Scheuen Reh [Köln 2026]

Magician On Duty & Dario Klein — 6 Hours 30 min, No Rules On August 15th, 2026, Magician On Duty and Dario Klein returned to the booth for their third all-night back-to-back — six and a half hours of music, movement, laughter and complete creative freedom. What began as another night behind the decks quickly turned into something neither artist wanted to end. Seven hours disappeared almost unnoticed, carried by a constant exchange of energy between two friends, an open-minded crowd and a musical conversation that never needed a script. “six hours and a half flew by without noticing. We had so much fun playing together and even though this is our 3rd time doing an all night back to back, I think this one was our best,” says Magician On Duty. “The track selection and our energy was in a constant flow, the laughter and the interaction with the crowd was beautiful.” Dario Klein echoed the sentiment, equally pleased with how naturally the night unfolded and how deeply the music, the room and the two DJs connected. There was no predetermined destination. The music moved wherever the moment demanded — left, right, back and forth, following instinct rather than structure. Tracks appeared that might never find their way into a conventional club or festival set, given the freedom that only a long, uninterrupted night can offer. Three encounters. Seven hours. No plan. Just two friends listening, responding, laughing and trusting the process. Now, the recording opens the door to that night once again — an unfiltered document of what happens when the clock disappears and the music takes over. Much love from Magician On Duty & Dario Klein. Calatrava [Journey Series]

Some journeys unfold in a straight line. Others drift like smoke, following instinct rather than direction. For his debut appearance on the Magician On Duty Journey Series, Calatrava (@calatravaa) offers a recording that lives somewhere between sunrise and the final moments of the night. It is a patient conversation between pulse and silence, where each transition feels less like a DJ mix and more like the turning of a page. Time stretches, rhythms breathe, and melodies arrive quietly, leaving room for the listener to wander. Calatrava's story begins in Moscow, where intimate underground gatherings became the laboratory for a sound shaped by restraint instead of excess. Drawn to the subtle tension of minimal techno, deep house, and downtempo, he learned to build momentum through detail rather than spectacle, allowing every record to reveal itself slowly. Everything shifted with his move to Tulum in 2022. Surrounded by a community searching for new musical languages, he co-founded EXO, a gathering dedicated to slower frequencies and open-minded selectors. What began as a local event series soon grew into one of the region's most respected platforms, welcoming artists including Magician On Duty, Kyong Sono, DPAZ, NADA, RoMo, MoM, YOU&I, and many others. The vision naturally expanded into EXO Records, a home for music that favors feeling over formula. Today, Calatrava continues to shape his own path through original productions and performances across Mexico, guided by curiosity rather than convention. His sets refuse obvious climaxes, choosing instead to dissolve the boundaries between genres, cultures, and states of mind. That philosophy flows effortlessly through this Journey Series episode. Across eighteen carefully chosen selections, delicate arpeggios dissolve into earthy percussion, forgotten melodies reappear in unexpected forms, and hypnotic grooves give way to moments of quiet reflection before finding their pulse once again. Music from Arutani, Iorie, Madmotormiquel, NADA, Mira & Christopher Schwarzwälder, Juliano Gomez, gázel, O_Y and others becomes part of a single, unbroken narrative—less a collection of tracks than a landscape slowly revealing itself with every step. This is a mix for long roads, hidden beaches, empty dance floors at dawn, and those rare moments when music says more than words ever could. Tracklist: 1. Soble – Some Arps 2. Ricardito [Journey Series]

Magician On Duty Journey Series welcomes Miami-based selector Ricardito (@ric_dimensions) for a deeply personal recording that reflects the places, people and moments that have shaped his musical path. Drawing inspiration from the underground cultures of London, New York and South Florida, Ricardito has cultivated a sound that effortlessly drifts between organic house, deep grooves and hypnotic rhythms. His approach is less about chasing genres and more about creating emotional movement—building sets that invite listeners into a shared experience where dance, introspection and connection coexist. Over the years, Ricardito has become a familiar presence across Miami's vibrant electronic music community, soundtracking sunset beach gatherings, intimate boat parties on Biscayne Bay and immersive experiences at Love Burn as part of the CYMATICA camp. His journey has also taken him through beloved collectives including Fun the Pain Away, Lunarcrats, Sky Bar and Banana Hammocks, while appearances at venues such as Sable, M2, Mad Radio, ZeyZey and Do Not Sit On The Furniture have further established his reputation as a thoughtful and versatile selector. His contribution to the Magician On Duty Journey Series captures that same spirit of exploration. Carefully woven together, the mix moves through organic textures, melodic storytelling and late-night energy, balancing introspective moments with uplifting grooves. Featuring music from Temple Step Project & Darpan, Roze, Fernn, Jon.K, Eternal Moment, Space Food, BOg, Danny Tenaglia, Booka Shade, Patrice Bäumel, Boris Brejcha and many more, the journey also includes unexpected reinterpretations of Portishead, Depeche Mode and Nelly Furtado, creating a seamless narrative that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking. Rather than simply presenting a collection of tracks, Ricardito treats the recording as a living memory—one inspired by friendships, places and fleeting moments that continue to resonate long after the music fades. It's an invitation to slow down, lose yourself in the journey and reconnect through rhythm.
