Episode 328: A Night to Forget

This week, we’re presenting one of our B Sides of the Mysterious Old Radio, an example of the sort of bonus content we make available to our supporters on Patreon! Each B Side is a companion piece to an episode presented as part of our usual podcast. In this case we’re listening to “A Night to Forget” from Quiet Please as a supplement to our previous installment, “The Coffin in Studio B,” from Lights Out! Wyllis Cooper wrote this script roughly 15 years after its predecessor on Lights Out. The story features the star of a popular radio series who suffers from surreal nightmarish experiences that he fears might lead to his own death. Where is the boundry between his reality and his dreams? How does this differ from Cooper’s version of this ideas created for Lights Out? What if a version of this story were produced for The Flintstones? Listen for yourself and find out!

My Favourite

This is the best podcast ever!!!!

Probably my favorite podcast!

I love this podcast so much. If you like old radio shows, this is a great way to listen to episodes and have a fun critique of them. Initially I admit I had a little trouble distinguishing amongst the three hosts, but once I got used to them, I really started enjoying it even more. Eric, Tim, and Joshua are hilarious and have a really fun dialogue, with each bringing his own views. I especially appreciate the three distinct personalities (once I could tell them apart) and sets of tastes, so they definitely don’t always agree. But it is clear they love and respect each other as much as they love old time radio. I spend a lot of time in my car, so I love having something I know I will enjoy every time. I really think this is my favorite podcast now, and I am just sad that I have almost caught up on all of their old episodes. My only complaint - and it’s a small one - is that they sometimes include shows that I don’t think really fit the show (although I did notice that at some point they expanded to include crime shows in their opening description). But it’s always a fun listen, and I have learned a lot about the shows I am listening to as well.

Good selection but the “review” can be lacking.

I really do enjoy the selection of genres and shows from Westerns to Sci-Fi but once the hosts return to the microphone I usually turn it off. While most episodes that they like receive much praise, the ones they don’t receive a lot of flak which is usually poorly explained, such as my favorite OTR program, “Battle of the Magicians”.
