  3. Selecting College Course Paper or Project Topics

Selecting College Course Paper or Project Topics

Is there a way you could advance your career with each course and paper project you do? I say absolutely! Choose to research and write about something related to what you're interested in as a career or possible career option. Think about all the papers and projects you need to do for your coursework as undergrads use it as an opportunity to learn more about something that you're interested in and in that process, you'll meet the professor's requirements, the course requirements, and you will advance your understanding of a particular topic. That’s what this episode is all about. Over the past year I have read several great books on writing: The Daily Pressfield; Writing Down The Bones; The Writing Life; The Power of Writing it Down; The Artist Way. The literature inspired me to include exercises and strategies learned into my courses. For example, I incorporated the Fools Cap method for teaching students how to outline an assigned reading and writing assignment. It also works for outlining a research paper, presentation, podcast episode (and a business idea). I share example of going deeper then what you already know from my work on Zora Neale Hurston.
