    Blake Allen – Season 2 – Episode 131

    Blake Allen – Season 2 – Episode 131

Hello Broad-WHAT? fans, and thank you for joining us here for another amazing episode! This time we are traveling away from the lower mainland and off to the Big Apple itself with the lovely and incredibly (and I do mean incredibly) talented Blake Allen.

Blake is a totally new friend to me, and I was so incredibly excited to meet and speak to him. Blake is a composer and musician operating out of New York City, though he grew up in El Paso, Texas which he candidly refers to as “the Winnipeg of the south.” He’s been in the big city for over a decade now, and might I say, he’s killing it! Blake started music very early in childhood, learning piano from his mother and quickly realizing his passion extended beyond just a hobby, and was something that he could see himself pursuing. Since being in New York, Blake has done so much cool stuff - including working with the world famous Drag Queen Tina Burner. I don’t want to say too much more, because this is an absolutely amazing interview, and you should be listening to it, not reading a recap from me!

Check Blake out on his Instagram @blakeallenpresents or on his website www.blakeallen.org.

    Ben Pilger – Season 2 – Episode 130

    Ben Pilger – Season 2 – Episode 130

Hello Broad-WHAT? fam! Once again, I just want to say thank you all so much for your support and patience as we try to get ourselves back on a more consistent schedule. This week we are SO excited to bring you an interviee that has been a long time coming - Ben Pilger!

Ben is an amazingly talented and hard working artist, a self described “maker, actor, mover,” and the curator of APTPOP - a small art gallery here in Vancouver! We have known each other for many years now, starting all the way back in theatre school at Capilano University. Since then, I have followed Ben’s work and can only say that he is an incredible artist and someone that you should all do yourself a favour and check out. You can find him on Instagram @benpilger and his gallery @aptpop.

I hope that you all enjoy this week’s episode, and in case you haven’t noticed, we also have a special guest artist who has graciously agreed to step in while @emilienunez is on a much deserved vacation. Many thanks to @emmamarymckart for the amazing cartoon this week. Check her out on Instagram or at her website here: https://emmamarymckart.artstation.com/

    See you next week!

    Queer Representation in the Media

    Queer Representation in the Media

Hello friends! Today is a very special episode for you that I made as a little Pride Month special. I did a bunch of research about queer people in various forms of media, and learned a lot of really interesting and exciting things about how far we've come, and how far we still have to go.

I hope you enjoy this, and happy Pride to all of you!

    Emilie Nunez – Season 2 – Episode 128

    Emilie Nunez – Season 2 – Episode 128

It’s finally here! After much ado, I am incredibly happy to present the long awaited interview with the one and only Emilie Nunez (aka my sista and the artist for this very podcast). Emilie is an incredibly talented artist, having ran a VERY successful Etsy shop for the past several years.

It was really fun to interview her, if a bit weird considering that I know everything about her already! That being said, she is so intelligent, kind, and loving in addition to her great talent. This one is unique, hilarious, insightful and very worth listening to in my humble opinion.

Thanks for your patience as we work to get out content more regularly. For now, please enjoy this week’s podcast with Emilie!
