I used to really look forward to every episode of this show, but that has changed drastically over the last few years. There's so much focus now, particularly since they're covering the Sanderson books, on how much the hosts dislike almost every aspect of the last few books.
It's been said before, but Aradia truly drags the show down. She comes across as the person at a party who, say you bring guacamole, and people are enjoying it, will see this happiness and go on a ten minute diatribe about the evils of avocado farming. Then if you call her on it because this isn't really the time or place, will blame her autism. She wouldn't be wrong about how bad avocados are in terms of water usage or abuse of the people that grow them, but please read the room dude. It's an attitude I got over by the time I was around 17 and realized I was just making myself and everyone around me miserable with my constant and unending activism that never ceased even when socially inappropriate because I'd shoehorn it into everything in order to feel a sense of moral superiority.
I really wish I could still go to this show for escapism and a deep analysis of my favorite book series, but unfortunately it's constantly derailed by long real-world tangents, from politics to how certain animal's eyes work. It's sad because I do agree with the vast majority of the show host's political views, but the way it's constantly brought up and inserted (we know you hate monarchy, Aradia! But this is a fantasy series!) makes for an exhausting and annoying listen.
I just want to hear about the Wheel of Time. If you want a much better, much more fun and interesting podcast, certain others are much more worth the listen.
