Dan Cox, Republican Candidate for Governor of Maryland

🎙️ ICYMI: Dan Cox Joins the Morning News Express Following Maryland’s Gubernatorial Debate Bob Miller welcomed Dan Cox, Republican candidate for governor of Maryland, to the Morning News Express following Tuesday night’s gubernatorial debate with Democratic incumbent Gov. Wes Moore. The candidates clashed over several major issues facing Maryland, including the state’s projected budget deficit, taxes, affordability, immigration, data centers and the FBI headquarters project. Cox argued Marylanders are “paying more, but getting less” and said he would not raise taxes, while Moore defended his administration’s record and pointed to federal policies as a factor in the financial pressures facing working families. One of the notable exchanges came when Moore was asked whether he would commit to serving all four years of a second term if reelected. Moore spoke about his commitment to Maryland and the work his administration has done across the state but did not directly answer yes or no. Cox addressed that moment Wednesday morning with Bob. 🗣️ “Why would you vote for somebody, who has looked in the camera and won’t promise to serve?” Cox said. 🎙️ Hear Dan Cox’s reaction to the debate, his criticism of Moore’s response and his thoughts on some of the major issues facing Maryland voters. 🎧 Missed it? Jeff Holtzinger, Candidate for Frederick County Executive

🏢 ICYMI: Frederick County Executive Candidate Jeff Holtzinger Calls Into the Morning News Express Republican candidate for Frederick County Executive Jeff Holtzinger called into Bob Miller on the Morning News Express with more to say about Frederick County's handling of data center development. This time, Holtzinger focused his criticism on County Executive Jessica Fitzwater and her administration's handling of the Critical Digital Infrastructure Overlay Zone. Holtzinger argued that the administration hired a public relations firm to help promote the overlay proposal to Frederick County residents, and contended that county leaders changed course after the proposal failed to receive the public response they expected. His message to the current administration was straightforward: he believes county leaders need to acknowledge where they got it wrong and take responsibility for how the process was handled. The county has described its approach differently, saying its data center policies have evolved in response to public input, changing industry conditions and concerns about the impact of development. The county subsequently paused new data center applications, and on Sept. 14, Fitzwater rejected the proposed DRRA for the Frederick Digital Campus and extended that pause until July 1, 2027. 🎙️ Hear Holtzinger explain why he believes the county's approach to the data center overlay went wrong, why he's critical of the administration's public messaging, and what he believes county leaders should do now. 🎧 Missed it?
