Rare Blumhouse Win - Real Minishow Ep 93

This week on Real Horrorshow, we're witnessing miracles...or something much darker. We dive into Midnight Mass Episode 3 as Crockett Island is swept up in a wave of religious fervor after Leeza's seemingly miraculous recovery. Forgiveness, faith, and fanaticism collide as Father Paul's shocking secret is finally revealed: he's actually a rejuvenated Monsignor Pruitt, transformed after a terrifying encounter with a mysterious winged creature he believes to be an angel. Is this divine intervention—or the beginning of something unspeakable? We unpack one of the series' biggest twists, discuss Mike Flanagan's masterful use of religious symbolism, and explore how easily hope can become dangerous when people desperately want to believe. Plus, we share our thoughts on the breakout horror hit Obsession and whether it lives up to the growing buzz. If you love psychological horror, vampire lore, and stories where faith and fear become impossible to separate, this is an episode you won't want to miss. Speaking of Artificial Intelligence... (Lisa Frankenstein Review)

This week we’re digging up Lisa Frankenstein--the neon-soaked, darkly funny love story you didn’t know you needed. Set in the 1980s, the film follows misunderstood teen Lisa as she forms an unexpected connection with a reanimated Victorian-era corpse (yes, really). What starts as a strange friendship quickly spirals into something far more chaotic--and murderous. Equal parts coming-of-age, horror, and offbeat romance, this one is as weird as it is wildly entertaining. We break down the film’s tone, performances, and why Diablo Cody and Zelda Williams make such a perfect pairing for this genre-bending story. Real Minishow Ep. 91 - Mike Flanagan's Masterpiece?

We’re back with another episode in our Mike Flanagan Rewind series, and this week we’re diving deep into Midnight Mass—the haunting, slow-burn horror story that blends faith, grief, and something far more sinister. After serving four years in prison for a drunk driving accident that killed a young woman, Riley Flynn returns to Crockett Island—a struggling, isolated fishing community still reeling from an environmental disaster. Now disconnected from his faith, Riley finds himself at odds with the deeply religious townspeople, including his parents, his younger brother, and his former love, Erin Greene. Things begin to shift with the arrival of the mysterious and charismatic Father Paul Hill, a young priest filling in for the aging Monsignor Pruitt. As miracles seem to occur and devotion intensifies, unsettling events unfold across the island—strange sightings in the night, a growing sense of unease, and a horrifying discovery that signals something is deeply wrong beneath the surface. In this episode, we break down the premiere, explore the show’s themes of religion, redemption, and fanaticism, and discuss why Mike Flanagan remains one of the most compelling voices in modern horror storytelling. Plus: a very serious debate—pancakes vs. waffles—and a moment of appreciation for the kitties of Crockett Island, who absolutely deserved better. 🐾 Guest Find Us Online - Website: www.realhorrorshowpodcast.com - Twitter: www.twitter.com/Horrorshowpod - Support: www.realhorrorshow.com/support/ - Submit: www.realhorrorshow.com/submission-guidelines/    Good Things to Support Quileute Move to Higher Ground Red Canary Song List of BLM Affiliated Charities Abortion Funds in Every State Shout Your Abortion Abortion and Miscarriage Support Support Families in Palestine  Credits - Host: Samantha Oty. Just Girly Things - Real Minishow Ep. 90

It’s time we bid farewell to the Haunting of Bly Manor in our journey through the Mike Flanagan library.  As Viola drags Dani by the throat, Flora intervenes—reminding the Lady in the Lake of her long-lost daughter, Isabel. Viola takes Flora to the lake to drown her, but Dani sacrifices herself, inviting Viola’s spirit to inhabit her body and freeing the trapped souls of Bly Manor. In the aftermath, Henry returns to raise the children, while Owen and Jamie discover Hannah’s body in the well. Dani and Jamie leave for America to build a life together, but nine years later Viola’s presence begins to surface. During a reunion in France, Owen reveals that Flora and Miles remember nothing of Bly Manor—only the happy parts of childhood. When Dani wakes with her hand around Jamie’s throat, she realizes Viola’s hold is growing stronger. To protect the woman she loves, Dani returns to Bly Manor and takes her place in the lake forever. The storyteller—revealed to be an older Jamie—finishes the tale at Flora’s wedding reception, surrounded by the people who survived. Later that night, Jamie leaves the door open, still hoping Dani might return… and as she sleeps, a familiar hand rests gently on her shoulder. 🔍 Subscribe and listen now for your fix of horror and more!   Guest Find Us Online - Website: www.realhorrorshowpodcast.com - Twitter: www.twitter.com/Horrorshowpod - Support: www.realhorrorshow.com/support/ - Submit: www.realhorrorshow.com/submission-guidelines/    Good Things to Support - Quileute Move to Higher Ground: https://mthg.org/  - Red Canary Song: https://www.redcanarysong.net/ - List of BLM Affiliated Charities: https://bit.ly/3wSMW47 Abortion Funds in Every State https://shoutyourabortion.com/abortion-pills/ https://aidaccess.org/ Support Families in Palestine  Credits - Host: Samantha Oty. The Ass Gallows (The Gallows 2015 Review)

This week on Real Horrorshow, we’re heading back to high school theatre with a review of The Gallows (2015), a found-footage supernatural horror film from Blumhouse. Set twenty years after a fatal onstage accident during a small-town school play, the film follows a group of students who attempt to resurrect the cursed production in a misguided act of remembrance—with terrifying consequences. Written and directed by Chris Lofing and Travis Cluff and starring Reese Mishler, Pfeifer Brown, Ryan Shoos, and Cassidy Gifford, The Gallows taps into the uniquely nerve-wracking world of school auditoriums, stage lights, and unfinished business. Does it earn its scares, or should some shows stay closed forever? Let’s break it down. 🔍 Subscribe and listen now for your fix of horror and more!   Guest Find Us Online - Website: www.realhorrorshowpodcast.com - Twitter: www.twitter.com/Horrorshowpod - Support: www.realhorrorshow.com/support/ - Submit: www.realhorrorshow.com/submission-guidelines/    Good Things to Support - Quileute Move to Higher Ground: https://mthg.org/  - Red Canary Song: https://www.redcanarysong.net/ - List of BLM Affiliated Charities: https://bit.ly/3wSMW47 Abortion Funds in Every State https://shoutyourabortion.com/abortion-pills/ https://aidaccess.org/ Support Families in Palestine  Credits - Host: Samantha Oty.
