Ear Hustle brings you the daily realities of life inside prison shared by those living it, and stories from the outside, post-incarceration. The podcast is a partnership between Nigel Poor, a Bay Area visual artist, and Earlonne Woods, formerly incarcerated at San Quentin State Prison, and was co-founded with San Quentin resident Antwan Williams. The Ear Hustle team works in the San Francisco Bay Area, both in San Quentin State Prison’s media lab and from offices on the outside, to produce stories that are sometimes difficult, often funny and always honest. Great Podcast!

I’m always on the search to find a new podcast to listen to on my commute to work. I like stories, true crime, real life. This is a great insight to prison life. To hear these people’s real life experiences and what they go through. And it’s amazing that they have this opportunity to make a podcast.

Humanizing Life on the “Inside”

Really one of the all around BEST podcasts out there today. Beautifully produced...music, editing, a full audio experience! Earlon and Nigel just mix so well! It really opens your eyes to the highs and the lowest lows of the prison experience. The episode Dirty Water is honestly one of the most powerful, heartbreaking and REAL pieces of journalism/podcasting that I’ve ever come across. They tell real stories. You see that things aren’t always so concrete and black and white. People live in shades of gray. Wonderfully and importantly humanizes people who have been incarcerated within the federal prison system.

Dirty Water Episode is so important

The Ear Hustle Episode “Dirty Water” is one that everyone should listen to from beginning to end. It’s important to see prostitution and sex trafficking from different angles. It’s painful to listen to but I think it would be something law enforcement officers and even teachers should hear.
