    Local Selection 321: Holz

In this edition of the Local Selection, Holz blasts off into jackin’ techno and funk-laced grooves, delivering a cheeky, high-energy mix that wastes no time getting down to business. Having spent the past year DJing across Dublin and Galway, the rising DJ is steadily honing a sound that balances hypnotic, groove-led techno with the playful, sexy energy of the dancefloor. Drawing inspiration from artists like Gigi FM and ANNĒ, Holz gravitates towards persistent rhythms and hypnotic soundscapes that keep dancers locked in. But there’s room for a little mischief, too. With Ireland’s queer techno scene playing a formative role in their musical journey, the mix embraces the freedom, fun and flirtation that make a dancefloor feel alive. Across the hour, raw, fast-paced cuts collide with soulful hardgroove bangers, lush chords, cheeky vocal hooks, rave-ready stabs and jarring percussion. It’s a relentless race through techno’s more playful end, with grooves that jack, rhythms that roll and crescendo after crescendo pushing the energy forward. There’s barely a moment to catch your breath, let alone stand still. For Holz, it’s all about finding that sweet spot between hypnotic intensity and unfiltered dancefloor pleasure. Strap in and let Holz take you for a ride. HOLZ -------------------- SC: @user-535513921 IG: www.instagram.com/holz.zloh Four Four Magazine

Four Four Premiere: Club Evoy - On The Way To The Club [Ó Rua Records]

Club Evoy is a house producer and DJ based between Wexford and Dublin, working across warm, driving sounds built for the late hours. Synthetic Drift marks the first release on Ó Rua Records, a new independent dance music label from Co. Wexford. Across four tracks, the EP follows a single idea: moving through the city after dark, windows down, with the night still ahead. “On The Way To The Club” sits at that point before everything begins — the anticipation, the journey in, the hours before the doors open. Local Selection 320: Jake Brien

Local Selection number 320 welcomes Jake Brien to the series. Bringing a fresh perspective to the city’s electronic music scene, Brien delivers a mix that reflects his appetite for digging deeper and pushing things forward. Dublin’s Jake Brien is quickly establishing himself as a nonconformist force within the club scene, and his Local Selection is testament to that. Gliding effortlessly between genres, tempos, moods and atmospheres, the hour-long mix sees the young DJ kick things off with vintage ’90s hip-hop before closing out with UK hardcore. The abrasive sandwich in between is anything but filler, as Brien goes for the jugular from the off. Electro, rave, house and techno collide in a blistering assault of dancefloor killers, delivered with equal parts tenacity and guts. If Jake Brien wasn’t already a name to watch, he certainly is now. Local Selection 319: Terrane

This week’s entry to the Local Selection comes from Terrane, formerly known as Son Orbis, who showcases his stylistic shift through an hour of high-voltage, percussive madness. The Dublin-based DJ and producer recently unveiled his fresh outlook on club music, moving away from the deep and soulful sounds of house music that defined the early stages of his career in favour of a more forward-thinking approach. Looking ahead rather than back, Terrane’s new direction offers a bracing perspective on where club music can go next, and marks the beginning of a new chapter under his new moniker. Terrane is defined by forward-thinking bass music inspired by the foundations of early-2000s dubstep, breakbeat, and UKG. Drawing impetus from that lineage while turning its conventions on their head, the new project builds on more than eight years of experience within Dublin’s underground club scene. With previous releases on Eton Messy Records and Milkit Sounds, and support from artists including Boys Noize, Slam, and Pete Tong, his renewed focus now falls on deep low-end, intricate percussion, and enthralling, high-octane sets. For his Local Selection, the Dublin artist dives headfirst into this absorbing world of jagged percussion, blasting synths, and forceful basslines. The mix is a relentless ascent, continually building in intensity as it hurtles deeper into a world of hyperactive rhythmic insanity. It’s a full-throttle ride through Terrane’s new sonic territory, a restless, exhilarating journey from an artist stepping into a new era, backed by more than eight years of experience in the underground.
