    Local Selection 305: CIRCUITBREAKER

    CIRCUITBREAKER soundtracks the 305th with a breakneck one-hour journey through wobbly basslines, blistering amen breaks, and thundering UK hardcore weapons. Dublin’s CIRCUITBREAKER is co-founder and creative force behind Irish underground soundsystem collective ‘Injector Sound’, and a DJ who arrived on the Dublin club and rave scene with an unapologetically rave-soaked sound. Her career thus far spans highlights such as holding it down at Fuinneamh festival two years running, playing a stacked list of raves, and sharing bills with the likes of Samurai Breaks and Eugene McCauley. A roster of past appearances that speaks to her bold and brash commitment to the “fun” side of club culture. Her approach leans into the chaotic side of the UK sound, through happy hardcore-adjacent cuts, speed garage, donk, and more, in her own words, “sounds that don’t take themselves too seriously.” It’s a wonky ride through free party sounds, tracks that sit perfectly in forest parties and warehouse raves, a homage to UK free party culture.     This May 29th, Rebekah returns with ‘Industrial Mind’, a new album that marks a turning point in her artistic identity and reaffirms the sound that shaped her to be released on RECKLESS Records. After several years spent immersed in the harder, faster corners of club culture, she reached a moment of clarity. “These influences opened me up to taking more risks with my own palette,” she says. “Industrial Mind feels like a homecoming of sorts.     This week’s Local Selection comes from Irish-Filipino DJ and promoter Jenn Hession, whose blistering, bass-heavy sound moves fluidly through hardcore, dubstep, jungle and beyond. Since launching her DJ career at the close of 2019, Jenn has steadily carved out a distinct place within Dublin’s underground circuit. Alongside her work as a DJ, she founded Instinct Society, originally a college collective that became a gateway to the wider Irish electronic music community and beyond. Emerging through a mix of live gigs and DIY rave spaces in late 2020, Jenn first became known for sets rooted in harder, high-energy sounds, before gradually expanding her musical scope. Her trajectory through the local scene has since seen her play some of Dublin’s key venues, including Here & Now, Cellar, Wigwam and The Racket Space, among others. Through collaborations and lineups shared with a broad range of artists, Jenn’s approach has evolved into one that embraces fluidity across genres, driven by a continual curiosity for new sounds and styles. Her contribution to the Local Selection Mix is an ode to UK hardcore and rave-soaked jungle techno, packed with euphoric, ’90s-leaning weapons that balance intensity with moments of pure release. It’s a space where rapid, divergent mixing feels as natural as allowing tracks the room to breathe, letting long, blissful breakdowns unfold into prismatic, near-transcendent moments. Jenn manages both with ease, a hallmark of a great DJ, and this relentless journey through breakneck jungle stands as a sharp reflection of her sound and sensibility. Jenn Hession

    This week's entry to the Four Four Local Selection welcomes Meath-based DJ and producer ERNƎSTAS to the series. This upcoming tech and minimal house talent has been turning heads with an exceptional arsenal of unreleased material since surfacing and has racked up numerous gigs as a result. Lock in for the next hour and hear what ERNƎSTAS is all about. Ernestas has made a significant dent in Dublin's house music scene in a relatively short span of time, in just over a year he has supported Alisha, Robbie Doherty, Cam Stockman, Tommy Phillips, and more. He's become a regular outfit for one of Dublin's leading parties, Omni, where he has also recently performed at their Open Air festival alongside Irish house music veteran Eric Brown. ERNƎSTAS also won the Four Four Mix Series Competition last October, earning the opportunity to play at Otherside Festival, which was his first festival appearance. Not to mention picking up his UK gig debut in Brighton, where he supported house music fan-favourite Laidlaw. His productions have gained notoriety right across the industry and has recently released on Belters Only We Are Active Records. Undoubtedly, there is much more to come from this bright talent and we are extremely excited to see where he ends up on his musical journey. For the next 60 minutes, dial into this funk-driven recording from ERNƎSTAS. Acid-tinged basslines, sultry vocals, and airtight drums can be heard in abundance throughout, alongside a number of unreleased gems from ERNƎSTAS himself.
