Why Quality Matters: The Secrets Behind a Beautiful Kitchen Remodel

This week on the Home Remodeling Show, Shawn sits down with Edge Construction owner Mike Twohig to explore today's most popular kitchen remodeling trends and the key decisions that can make or break a project. Mike shares the story of how Edge Construction has grown from a one-man remodeling operation into one of Dane County's leading remodeling companies, while explaining why now is the perfect time to begin planning larger remodeling projects for next year. The conversation dives into what makes a kitchen remodel stand the test of time, from investing in quality cabinetry and durable materials to choosing designs that remain attractive for years to come. Shawn and Mike discuss the growing demand for sustainable building choices, the resurgence of hardwood flooring, and why selecting products built to last may be the greenest decision a homeowner can make. They also break down today's most popular kitchen design trends, including shaker-style cabinets, painted finishes, open shelving, larger windows, improved storage solutions, and the role of modern LED lighting in creating comfortable and functional spaces. Whether you're considering a simple kitchen refresh or a complete redesign, this episode offers practical advice on planning, design, product selection, and the remodeling process from start to finish.
