    Deceased Estates

    Deceased Estates

    *trigger warning - today we cover topics such as death, wills and all that goes with losing a loved one. We have used humor in places to lighten the heaviness of the topic but we hope that we have done this in a way that still treats the subject matter with honour and sensitivity*

    Today we bring you an episode tackling a bit of a heavy yet important topic. Dealing with a deceased estate and managing that whole process yourself can be super challenging and overwhelming, so we wanted to offer our expert advice, tips and suggestions for making it less so. We are so passionate about helping people with deceased estates and love that we can be a support and help to families during this season. We understand that every situation is unique so we have tried to cover a few different examples to give you an idea of how to manage and deal with it. Please don’t skip over this episode!! At some point it will be applicable in your life so we hope that you can learn something new and be better prepared for when the time may come. Make sure to join us in our Facebook community to continue the conversation.

    In this episode we;
    ● Explain what a deceased estate is;
    ● Teach you a new word;
    ● Strongly encourage you to enlist the help of professionals throughout the entire process;
    ● Offer loads of suggestions and advice;
    ● Highlight some hurdles and tricky spots that can pop up along the way;
    ● Share some of our experiences of dealing with clients and deceased estates;

Our beautiful friend and collegue Sarah Cottman sat down with us to answer all our questions of what goes on behind the scenes and when the cameras aren't rolling. Sarah is a Professional Organiser who has had the privilege of working with Peter Walsh over the years on the Living Room TV show as well as currently on Channel 9's Space Invaders. If you are a fan of the show then this episode is a must!! If you haven't seen it yet, we highly recommend checking it out as we feel it is such a great representation of our industry. Bonus Episode - Eden Update

    Bonus Episode - Eden Update

    *Trigger warning - this episode talks about sexual exploitation, human trafficking and the current coup in Myanmar - this episode is not suitable for children*

    This week we have a bonus episode for you. We are giving you a much needed update on This is Eden - the organisation we as The Art of Decluttering support. Back in November we spoke with Michelle from the Australian Team of This is Eden (please go back and listen to that episode it was very eye opening and powerful!) and she shared with us about the amazing work they do in Myanmar. Not sure if you have seen the news lately but the current situation in Myanmar is pretty horrific, so Amy checked in with some of the team over the weekend so we could update you all on the situation.

    We also wanted to say a massive thank you to all of YOU!! Every time you book a session with our staff, buy a book, listen to an ad on the podcast or even join one of our courses, money from every single way you support us goes straight to Eden. So thank you a million times over!!

    In this episode we:
    ● Share how much $$ we have already donated to Eden this financial year;
    ● Update you on what’s been happening in Myanmar and the training centre there that we support;
    ● Tell you all the ways that you are supporting Eden by supporting us;
    ● Remind you that every time you listen to the podcast and hear an ad, or book a decluttering session or support us in anyway you are also supporting freeing women and girls from sexual slavery;
    ● And so so so so much more...

    We hope from this update we all realise that we CAN do something to help in this seemingly helpless situation.

DTWdoddle ,

Pieced it together

I am a mom of a adult male who has been struggling for years with feeling odd and less then everyone around him. Although this was geared towards moms it was extremely helpful for me to finally start to understand this disorder of the neurological system. I feel like this is our first step towards really helping him deal with anger and depression. Thank you

Kirst and Ames- I am so grateful for your companionship in my ears over this past uncertain year of Covid. I started by listening to the oldest episodes first and then added in the new episodes when you began your daily ISO series. I’ve laughed and cried along with you and made tons of progress on my decluttering journey. Your Facebook community is a special place where I have been inspired and cheered on by others on the same path to freedom. Your compassion, empathy, grace, and love just shine through all you do. Thank you, thank you!

Erin M. G. ,

Affirming!

Too often, the work done at home - often by women - is not given proper value. In generations past, women had fewer professional options, but at least were culturally taught that the work done at home is real work. I think this sentiment has faded into the background - though the work is still there. I’m very organized, but my family of five still keeps me busy and it can be hard to tackle the challenges of house and home. The Art of Decluttering keeps me motivated and affirms that what I do for my family and home matters.

Also - thanks for the Michigan shout-out! We in Michigan usually say we’re “Michiganders.”
(And with the competitive rivalry between University of Michigan and Michigan State, many also identify as being either Wolverines or Spartans.). Still loving the show -

Erin in MI
