I tried this out randomly thinking it was gonna be a standard, short, mildly interesting podcast about NYC nuggets. Turns out it’s better than that and not at all what I expected. It’s definitely an amateur podcast, kind of disorganized (if you’re looking for something polished, this ain’t it), but something about the host, Glenn Mann, won me over immediately. He’s definitely a New Yorker, but instead of boisterous, he’s understated with kind of a dry humor. I just clicked on an episode at random - one about ghosts from December 2018 - and it was delightful. I can’t really put my finger on it - you’ll have to listen. He clearly has a passion for a good story, history, and his city. He’s all over the place (like this review), but also pretty knowledgeable. And it’s weirdly funny. If you have a decent sense of humor and an open mind and appreciation, you can’t help but love this guy. I came in just wanting some interesting little facts and stories, but came away realizing the gem of this podcast is its personality.
