    Acute Mental Health Issues: Now You're Talking

    Mental Health has recently gained popularity with ISoc’s across the UK and Ireland. Depression and anxiety are among the most common issues discussed; however, there are issues which are more traumatic, and surprisingly prevalent, that Muslims students suffer from, both brothers and sisters. Among these are issues of sexual harassment and abuse and consequently the infectious diseases and PTSD that follows. This podcast will endeavour to shed some light on these issues and how one can reach out to people affected and offer counsel and comfort. Speakers: Akeela Ahmad, Huda Ali, Leyla Hussein

    Nationalism & Muslim Identity in the West by Sh Ruzwan Mohammed

    How can Muslims understand nationalism in light of controversial foreign policy? Do Muslims have to let go of their cultural heritage in order to assimilate into British culture? How should Muslims view the non-Muslim British majority? This webinar tackles these questions and more. Sheikh Ruzwan Mohammad is a scholar and theologian. A graduate in Geopolitics and Arabic from the University of Glasgow, in 1993 he left to travel and study with a wide array of leading scholars and theologians in various countries in the Muslim world. In the process, he studied Turkish language at the University of Ankara and as part of his formal Islamic training, he graduated from the Fat’h Islamic Law College in Damascus, graduating from the prestigious 6-year program with a distinction of merit, achieving overall first position in his year of graduation from the college.
