    Received, Not Achieved

This week at Veritas, we asked a question so many of us wrestle with: Am I enough? In Luke 18, Jesus tells a story about two men who approach God in very different ways, one relying on his own goodness and accomplishments, and the other relying entirely on God's mercy. So often, we build our identity around what we achieve, how we perform, or what others think of us. But Jesus offers us something better: an identity that isn't achieved, but received. Because of Him, we don't have to prove our worth or earn God's approval. We can rest in who He says we are.

Am I Too Lost To Be Loved?

This week at Veritas, we looked at three stories Jesus tells in Luke 15 about what it means to be lost and found. So often, we feel like we need to hide our mistakes, clean ourselves up, or become a better version of ourselves before we can be loved. But Jesus shows us something different. He knows exactly who we are, mess and all, and still goes to extraordinary lengths to find us. We don't have to pretend we have it all together. Jesus invites us to come as we are, admit that we need Him, and experience what it means to be fully known and fully loved.

    The One Thing

Luke 10: 38 - 42 This week at Veritas, we looked at the story of Mary and Martha and what Jesus has to say to us when life leaves us distracted, worried, and pulled in a hundred different directions. So often, we turn to our phones, relationships, achievements, or busyness looking for peace. But Jesus invites us to something better: to slow down, sit at his feet, and choose Him, the one thing that can’t be taken from us. Jesus doesn’t just want us to be less anxious; he wants us to be fully alive, and that life is found in him.

    How To Love

This week at Veritas, we looked at the story of the Good Samaritan and what it means to live a life marked by love. Jesus calls us to love without exceptions and to give our time, comfort, and resources for the good of others. But that kind of love doesn’t come from simply trying harder. We’re free to love others when we first understand how deeply Jesus has loved us. We have been loved with a love we didn’t deserve, so we can go and do likewise.

    Outmatched

This week at Veritas, we looked at two stories in Luke 8 that show us just how powerful Jesus really is. Whether the storm is raging around us or inside of us, Jesus is stronger than whatever we’re facing and he uses his power to set people free. When we’re outmatched, the answer isn’t to try harder. It’s to trust the One who is stronger.

    How Big Is Your Cross?

This week at Veritas, we looked at the story of a woman whose life had been changed by Jesus and a religious leader who struggled to see his own need for grace. Jesus reminds us that we all have a debt we can’t repay—and when we understand how much we’ve been forgiven, it changes how deeply we love him and how we treat others. Our sin is great, but God’s grace is greater.

    Seeking A Cure?

This week at Veritas, we talked about what it feels like to be waiting for something in your life to finally change whether that's waiting to be healed, fixed, or made right. In Luke 4, Jesus proclaims that He is the rescuer God’s people have been waiting for. He brings good news, freedom, healing, and restoration. We don’t have to keep searching for something else to fix us; Jesus invites us to put our hope in Him and trust that the deepest healing we need is found in Him.

    Into The Deep

This week at Veritas, we celebrated 20 years of God’s faithfulness and asked an important question: Why are you here? Through the story of Simon Peter in Luke 5, we saw that following Jesus means more than listening from the shore, it means trusting Him enough to get in the boat. Jesus invites ordinary people like us to obey, depend, surrender, and be part of something bigger than ourselves. The challenge for the next 20 years is the same as it was for the first: will we trust Jesus, let down our nets, and follow Him?
