It was 2018. Not so long ago really, yet seems like a lifetime ago. It was a time of dreams... of hope... magic. The kind of magic that makes a mysterious, bottomless box of movies appear on a front porch, all under the guise of an ice cream company contest giveaway. And what does one do when entrusted with such a magical gift? Start a podcast of course! And thus was born the Pop Up Film Cast. Along with a menagerie of friends, Keith and Derek, dug deep into that fate riddled box of films to review some of the most amazing cinematic features ever created.

This week we are breathing life back into an episode from July 2021. The genre was Westerns and our guest was none other than Phil Rood. The colaborative efforts on this show even lead to Derek and I working with Phil, among others, on Midnight Writers - a short annual podcast we do detailing our adventures in screenwrighting via the NYC Midnight screenwriting contest. Phil even brought his son Austin along for the ride once. When not hanging with us, Phil cohosts The Picture Show with Austin and PHil Rood, a father son film review show. Right now they are in the middle of their spooky season reviews. Finally, Phil is an amazing artist. For this Re-Animated episode, Phil dove into a classic western - Time Of The Draw.

    PopUpFilmCast Re-Reanimated: S1E01 - The Shooter's Cat (Feat. Bernie Rao)

    Hello Greetings and good day. My name is Keith Gawla and welcome to a brand new episode of the PopUpFilmCast. Ah... that feels good. Feels natural... like riding a bike. I fell off my bike a lot as a child. For the long time listener, you know what the deal is. For those of you new to the show, let's recap. October 2017, along with the Co-host with the most Derek, we launched PopupFilmcast. A show where we drafted movies for a theme and created a 'pop up' film fest. Some where in the summer of 2018 a box appeared on my door stop claiming to from the Blue Bunny Ice Cream Company as part of a giveaway promotion. Turns out it was not filled with ice cream. In fact it was never technically filled, since it was bottomless. Also it seems it was magical, powered by the Fates aka the witches of destiny. And with their great power, they shunned the great responsibility part and instead bestowed Derek and myself with the greatest cinematic collection curated as only mythical witches could do. So season two of our podcast rolled out a bit differently. We gathered friends, old and new, to watch these movies that I pulled from the box each week. We even found a TV show once... more about that in the future. Overall, Derek, myself and others watched and reviewed approximately 300+ films. And now, much as the Fates before us, I am shunning the great responsibility side of the coin by breathing life back into those episodes, 1 movie at a time via this show you are now listening to...
