It Is I, Do Not Be Afraid

Jesus sends the disciples ahead across the Sea of Galilee, knowing a storm is coming, and meets them by walking on the water in the middle of the night. Gabe explains how obedience—getting into the boat when Jesus calls—positions us to witness God’s miracles, even when circumstances feel dark or overwhelming. The message encourages believers to keep their eyes on Jesus through every storm, trust His presence, and remember His words: “It is I. Do not be afraid.”

The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 48 – Simon the Cyrene

Jesus is scourged, mocked, and paraded toward Golgotha as Pilate repeatedly tries—and fails—to avoid condemning Him. Along the way, a traveler named Simon of Cyrene is forced to carry Jesus’ cross, unknowingly stepping into a moment that will later shape his family’s faith. His brief appearance in Scripture becomes a powerful reminder that God often uses unexpected, inconvenient moments to draw ordinary people into His redemptive story.

The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 47 – Jesus Faces Pilate

Jesus is brought before Pilate as the Jewish leaders present political charges, hoping Rome will execute Him. Pilate finds no guilt, sends Jesus to Herod, and receives Him back still innocent, yet the crowd demands Barabbas’ release instead. Despite lies, pressure, and injustice, Jesus remains fully in control, speaking truth with authority while prophecy continues to unfold around Him.

The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 46 – Jesus faces the Sanhedrin

Jesus is taken from Gethsemane to stand before Annas and then Caiaphas, where false witnesses fail to agree until Jesus openly affirms He is the Christ, leading to a charge of blasphemy and brutal mistreatment. Meanwhile, Peter denies Jesus three times in the courtyard, fulfilling Jesus’ prophecy and fleeing in grief. The pastor emphasizes that Jesus willingly submitted to this suffering and calls believers to trust God and respond with Christlike integrity when facing false accusations or conflict.

The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 45 – Jesus is Arrested

Jesus enters Gethsemane fully aware of His mission, experiencing overwhelming grief as He submits to the Father’s will while the disciples repeatedly fail to stay awake and pray. Judas arrives with soldiers, betrays Jesus with a kiss, and despite Peter’s violent reaction, Jesus heals the injured servant and willingly surrenders. The disciples flee, revealing human weakness, while Jesus models courage, compassion, and unwavering obedience to God’s redemptive plan.

The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 44 – High Priestly Prayer

Pastor Bob teaches from John 17, where Jesus offers His High Priestly Prayer — the final and longest recorded prayer before He leaves the upper room and goes to Gethsemane. This moment reveals Jesus’ heart for Himself, His disciples, and the future church. He begins by explaining why the Harmony of the Gospels matters: each gospel writer highlights different aspects of Jesus, and John uniquely records this prayer while the others move directly to the garden. Jesus first prays for Himself, acknowledging that “the hour has come.” He asks the Father to glorify Him so He can glorify the Father, defines eternal life as knowing God intimately, and affirms that He has completed the work He was sent to do. Jesus then prays for the eleven disciples, asking the Father to protect them, keep them unified, and sanctify them in the truth. He acknowledges the spiritual danger they will face, grieves Judas’ betrayal, and asks that His joy would be made full in them. Pastor Bob emphasizes that sanctification means being set apart for God’s purpose, and that the Word — empowered by the Holy Spirit — will be their defense. Finally, Jesus prays for all future believers, asking that the worldwide church would be unified just as He and the Father are one. This unity is meant to testify to the world that Jesus truly was sent by God. Pastor Bob closes by reminding the congregation that Jesus’ prayer is still active today — and challenges listeners to consider whether their lives reflect God’s glory and draw others toward Him.

The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 43 – The Helper to Come

Jesus prepares His disciples for His departure by promising another Helper—the Holy Spirit, an intimate advocate who will live within believers, guide them into truth, and empower them to continue Jesus’ work. He explains that the Spirit is like living water, bringing real, life giving refreshment, conviction, teaching, and continual access to God in a way His physical presence could not. Jesus then gives them the gift of supernatural peace, assuring them that although they will face tribulation, the Spirit enables them to walk in life and peace because He has overcome the world.

The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 42 – All for Gods Glory

Jesus teaches His disciples during the Last Supper that His coming suffering is not a defeat but part of God’s plan to glorify the Father. After Judas leaves, He gives them a new commandment to love one another with the same radical, sacrificial love He has shown. He then explains that believers will carry on His work through the Holy Spirit, asking in His name for things that glorify God, make Christ known, and serve others humbly.
