To those of you who have stumbled onto this podcast, please take this warning: If you were expecting a fun, nostalgia-based romp, you have come to the wrong podcast. However, if you were expecting a hilarious series of discussions about how older anime has aged poorly (at least in terms of writing), you have come to exactly the right podcast.
The Home For Infinite Losers is a podcast of three individuals (Mike, Luke, and Emily) revisiting the beloved cultural icon that is the Dragonball franchise. However what they didn't take into account was that the original Dragonball series (at least up to where they have gotten to as of this date) is actually more of a sex comedy full of crass humor and softcore sexual content that they either forgot, missed, or flew over their heads as children. And barring general sexual content, there is plenty of other unfortunate politics that makes the series (up to this point) much harder to revisit in the 2010's.
The hosts, however, are wondeful people and do their best to struggle through this forgotten wasteland, with a combination of jokes and a refined understanding of the world. They point out the differences between the original japanese show and the english dub, and realize that in this case the "censorship" anime nerds complain about when it comes to older anime dubs was very much for the better in the long run. They embrace the unprofessional nature of their podcast, making "we don't do research" (a past criticism of their show) their motto and make unusual gags that a more professional podcast would never consider, such as dawdling around for time due to an episode having little to actually discuss and (early on) reading rules from a dragonball card game when there is no questions to answer.
As of this point (July of 2018) they have reached the beginning of the first World Tournament Arc. Perhaps, in the long run, they will be able to reach a point where the uncomfortable politics of an 80s shonen are gone, or at least significantly reduced. Unfortunately, due to their busy lives both with other podcasts in the Audio Entropy Network (such as Let's Place, Totally Reprise, and Teenagers With Attitude) and with non-podcast real life matters causing a sporadic, spur-of-the-moment update schedule and the podcast's decision of doing one episode at a time (at least until the big fights), it will likely be a very, very, long time until they find a way out.
