    No More Black Trauma

    In this episode for Headline News we discuss Network upfronts starting with BET+ nabbing Lean Waithe’s latest project Birth of Cool. Peacock picked up Craig Robinson’s comedy which is untitled and Bust Down starring Chris Redd, Sam Jay, Langston Kerman and Jak Knight. Kenya Barris new show that takes on contemporary relationships for Paramount+. As well as Kevin Hart's new movie being released via Netflix titled Fatherhood and POSE ending with Season 3. This week in Spotlight we are congratulating Tara Duncan and her new role as President of Freeform. Then for Stream or Skip we are reviewing Judas and The Black Messiah starring Daniel Kaluuya, LaKeith Stanfield, Jesse Plemons and Ashton Sanders and Black Boy Joy a short film starring Evan Alex (little boy from US), Montae Russell and Will Catlett. Both films are streaming on HBOMax.

    In this episode for Headline News we discuss The Best Man Limited Series with Original Cast coming to Peacock with creators Malcolm D. Lee and Dayna Lynne North, DC’s comic Namoi getting a pilot order at the CW with Ava DuVerynay set to direct, Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s new animated children's show Waffles + Mochi coming to Netflix and Michael B Jordan’s Outlier Society Production Company expanding their relationship with Amazon. This week in Spotlight we are shining a light on writer and actress Stacy Osei-Kuffour who is best known for her work on the Watchmen and PEN15. In Stream or Skip we are reviewing content centered around Black Love. In this segment we are reviewing Netflix’s Malcolm and Marie starring Zendaya and John David Washington, Sylvies Love starring Tessa Thomapson, Nnamdi Asomugha and Eva Longoria currently streaming on Amazon Prime, Felicia Pride’s short film Tender starring Trishauna Clarke and Farelle Walker currently streaming on STARZ and lastly we give our thoughts on writer and director Cadell Cook’s series PERFECT starring Michael J. Patterson and Alex Michell, currently available on Youtube.

    In this episode for Headline News we discuss Variety's exclusive on two shows being added to Kevin Durant’s streaming platform Boardroom and Lifestyle influencer Patricia Bright's new show with the Clienton's production company HiddenLight as well as Wakanda series in development with Ryan Coolger set to direct and Netflix’s new Doc Series with host Will Smith entitled 14th Amendment. This week in Spotlight we discuss up and coming Director Kia Moses and her short film Flight currently available to stream on HBOMax. Stream or Skip we are reviewing not one, not two but three Lifetime movies. The first is Salt and Pepper, then Wendy Williams: The Movie, followed by the Wendy Williams’s documentary What A Mess!

    In this episode for Headline New we talk about Debra Lee launching Monarchs Collective, #YouTubeBlackVoices 2021 Grant Recipients and Dr. Ibram X. Kendi partnership with Netflix. For Spotlight we discuss The Hollywood Reporter’s feature on Aunjanue Ellis and her opinion on the “Absence of Black Female Genius" in Film and TV. Then finally for Stream or Skip we are reviewing One Night in Miami written by Kemp Powers, directed by Regina King, starring Kingsley Ben-Adir as Malcolm X, Eli Gore as Cassius Clay/ Muhammad Ali, Aldis Hodge as Jim Brown and Leslie Odom Jr. as Sam Cooke. And American Skin written and directed by Nate Parker, starring Nate Parker, Omari Hardwick, Theo Rossi, and Beau Knapp. Both films are available for streaming on Amazon Prime.

This week we are giving the spotlight to Screenwriter, Director and Producer Kay Oyegun. Then for Stream or Skip we are reviewing Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom starring Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman currently streaming on Netflix, Disney+’s Soul starring Jamie Foxx Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Graham Norton and Canvas a Netflix short animation directed and written by Frank E Abney III who was also an animator on Soul, CoCo, Toy Story 4 and was the executive producer for Hair Love the short film.
