    Play Greater Podcast: Episode #33

We are absolutely thrilled to be back in your feeds so soon! We are still collectively getting used to this incredibly logical, completely unconfusing "both bi-weekly and bi-monthly" recording schedule, but more frequent episodes means we get to talk about way more things! Paul and I are having an absolute blast being back in the studio, and we hope you are enjoying the show as well! In this episode, we tackle an eclectic mix of conventions, products, community spots, and semi-sensical banter. In This Episode: Gen Con 2026 is Calling: We are officially heading back to the big show! You can find us at Booth #2856. On air, we break down why 2856 is an incredibly easy number to remember for so many reasons. Mark it down on your maps! GTG Products Galore: Do we have dozens of them? Potentially! Trogdor! The Burninator?!: You'd better believe it.  The Standard Table URL Adventures Continue: A brief status report on our ongoing, bizarre domain redirection mystery. The quest to standardize your dining room table experiences remains noble but technically weird. Local Spotlight: Pieces Board Game Cafe: If you are local to the St. Louis area or planning a trip, you need to visit our friends over at Pieces. They have exclusive, first-look copies of our upcoming games sitting right on their shelves! It's the perfect spot to grab a drink, roll some dice, and get an early sneak peek at what we've been printing. Seismic Activity in the Philippines: A bit of unexpected tectonic trivia. Earthquakes in the region happen to be more frequent than most people realize. Also, the Philippines and the Mariana Trench ARE both located in the western Pacific Ocean, but about 1.5k miles apart... so not THAT close to each other. The Great Geography Face-Off: A completely mutual roasting of regional knowledge. Yes, Americans are notoriously bad at mapping European borders, but we argue that Europeans are equally clueless when trying to parse American state geography. It's an ignorance stalemate! The Boundaries of Discourse: A highly tactical look at what we can and cannot talk about versus what we will and will not talk about. Sentinels of the Multiverse Updates: News on the reprint front for Definitive Edition products, alongside a quick discussion of errata plans. Sentinel Comics RPG Plans: We lay out what our upcoming schedule looks like for the roleplaying game side of Sentinel Comics. Defenders of the Realm: We talk about the game, the product, our crowdfunding plans, and what the future holds for this legendary fantasy title. Naturally, a new episode means a new turn of the Wheel of Topics. We add new topics to the wheel before giving it a aggressive spin to see where fate lands us. The result is both surprising, and also entirely unsurprising. We will be back in just a couple of weeks with another episode! In the meantime, we need your thoughts, design quandaries, and bizarre scenarios to keep the show fueled. Use our handy submission form to send us your letters: Submit Your Letters to the Play Greater Podcast Here! Thank you so much for listening, sharing the show, and helping us bring this back to life!

    Play Greater Podcast: Episode #32

We're kicking things off this week with a look at bits from times gone by. Some bits make a glorious comeback, some fade gracefully into the background, some are entirely forgotten (or mostly forgotten), and a select few... well, those will simply never die. The absolute heart of this episode is a deep dive into our latest grand announcement: The Most Right and Benevolent Order of the Standard-Sized Dining Room Table! We lay out where this came from, what this society is all about, how you can join, and more! What's in this episode: The Order of the Standard Table: We announced it last week, and now we're breaking it all down. If you want to explore the inner workings of the Order or secure your place at the table, use these helpful links: Check out the official Order of the Standard Table Landing Page for the full breakdown. Ready to make it official? Head over to the webstore to obtain a Standard Writ . Your Letters & The Wheel of Topics: We spend a healthy chunk of time reading through your brilliant mail and answering your questions. Keep them coming! We also desperately need more weird, chaotic, or highly technical concepts to feed the hungry Wheel of Topics. Want to submit a letter or a wheel topic? Please do! Use the official  PGP Letter Submission Form ! The Louvre Heist of '25: Speaking of the Wheel of Topics... remember that time M'Bender was apparently living a double life as a dapper French art thief and decided to rob the Louvre? We explain the whole backstory on air, but the critical piece of evidence is a real photograph:   As you can see, the security outside the museum was tight, but the individual captured looks completely, undeniably identical to M'Bender. What does this mean? Is it a clone? A time traveler? We leave that entirely as an exercise for you, the listener. We're not cops. Join us next time! Thanks for tuning in, rolling with the bits, and standardizing your table. Catch you next episode!

    Play Greater Podcast: Episode #31

We've been away for a while (okay, a long while), but the Play Greater Podcast has officially returned from its extended hiatus! We aren't here to dwell on the past; we're looking at the new state of things and everything exciting on the horizon for Greater Than Games. In this episode, we talk about our big return, special collaborations, and even manage to make time to spin the wheel! Topics of Note: The Return of Greater Than Games: We are back in action! New Games from GTG: Digital Detox, a game designed by Christopher Badell, and Crime Scene Tamperer that we made in conjunction with the Brothers Chaps! Who are the Brothers Chaps? We dive into our excitement about working with Mike and Matt Chapman, the creators of the legendary Homestar Runner. If you don't know about those things, you should check it out! New Website & Store: We have a fresh coat of paint! Check out the all-new GTG website to see the latest projects and updates. CRITICAL URL UPDATE: Our website is now www.greaterthan.games. SPOILER WARNING: The Stormlight Archive: We spend some time geeking out over Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive series. If you aren't caught up, skip the following segment: Spoilers start at: about 52 minutes in Spoilers end at: around 1 hour and 5 minutes in The JoCo Cruise: We chat about our time on the high seas with the JoCo Cruise — a nerd-centric floating festival of music, comedy, and gaming! Outro: We also have a new Outro! Good luck, Paul! Special Thanks A massive shout-out to Trevor for all the help in getting this show back on the air and into your ear holes! We couldn't have done it without the technical wizardry. Subscribe & Follow Make sure to check out the rest of the new content on our site, and stay tuned for more episodes (now both bi-weekly AND bi-monthly, somehow!) as we exchange stories, tell tales, and — as always — Play Greater.

    Play Greater Podcast: Episode #29

The Show Notes are MINE! (Temporarily.) Show Notes: Run Time: 1:27:22 Hello, everyone! It's me, one of your hosts, Christopher! Matt has left the room... and the country! Our intrepid Audio Technician and Show Note Writer is in a far-flung land... actually, he's on a boat, so it's more like far-flung water. Anyway, he's not here, so you're stuck with me for writing the show notes! Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha! I cannot be controlled, only unleashed! Me and two of your hosts Paul talk about goofs, the lack of a Matt Bender, and we claim that he'll put certain information in the show notes... but that's impossible! And I have no ability to answer that Matt Bender specific question, so these show notes have no answers! Then, I tell a story about dryers. (With a lot of rabbit trails.) The story ends on a cliffhanger! Who could say what happens next? We finally get into GTG News and World Report! Disparation things are going well! The Sentinel Choices Zine layout is complete! Paul is on a cruise! (With Matt Bender!) The Spirit Island accessories survey is probably coming out in a week or two! The Defenders of the Realm crowdfunding campaign is happening later this year! Bad things are happening in Rwanda! A very cool building in St. Louis is going to go away, but replaced with a hella cool building! Round buildings are cool! Gen Con is in several months and we're working hard on stuff for it! And that's everything you need to know. Then, we move onto your letters, which are delightful, but not plentiful enough! More letters, please!  We start off with a fantastic quiz game to see how up on Sentinel Comics and pop culture our very own Paul Bender is. The answer: somewhat! To both! We also discuss pronunciations, beverages, food, and more! The Wheel of Topics generates a very early "Classic Christopher Story"! Spoilers: Christopher doesn't get injured in this one! (But someone does!) We'll be back in a month with another episode! Write in more letters! We need more! And, as always, don't be shy!  COME SAY HI!

    Play Greater Podcast: Episode #26

Dallas and Seattle? Exactly the same city. (Except for weather and pants!) Philadelphia? Entirely full of vampires and marios. (Or maybe vampire-marios?!) Show Notes: Run Time: 1:32:00 Oh hey there, cool cats and carnivorous crustaceans crustaceans! It's time for another episode of the Play Greater Podcast! Listen as one of your hosts Christopher and two of your hosts Paul try to split their banter equitably betwixt segments, valiantly attempting to take the note given to them by famed-flame-Producer and Axis-upon-which-all-podcasts-rotate, Trevor Casterline. Check below for links and/or info mentioned in episode: Reminder: Pax Unplugged Tournament sign-up at Booth 2150! Looking for an SC:RPG Sheet with correct bubbles?! So was your friendly-neighborhood-show-notes-writer... but Christopher and Paul misremembered! They DID in fact update the hero sheet for the new version of the Starter Kit (which can be found here) but they haven't made the blank hero sheet yet, even though they could! They shall be scolded and mocked until they do so! It will likely come up next episode... Looking for more info on the Defenders of the Realm Campaign? Check that out here! Do you have an opinion about two or more cities being the same? Perhaps, you have esoteric hypothetical questions about Lord of the Rings lore?? Maybe a query about a third other mystery thing not mentioned yet??? Send us a letter about it by following this artisanal hyperlink! And, remember… Don't be shy; come say "hi!" So please don't be shifty! Cause, wouldn't it be nifty… To visit 2150? (That's our Booth number. At PAX Unplugged. Remember? Yeah, you remember!)
