Broken Wings - Shortwave Learn to Fly rework

Working on this project for the past three years to learn the new technology for music produciton. Giving it one weekend here and there as my corporate life doesn't really set the perfect condition to spend days and nigths in the studio. If you read the comments on the two previous versions I posted earler you'll undersant that this is the last mix of this. I have to move on. We can actually hear it towards the end chorus. I clearly didn't polish those vocals. hahah! It's not going to be released as I've had enough of it... and Nick at Rejoin was asking for a 6 minutes and a 3 minutes version. Things I can't do. Reading this takes longer than that. If uou have 20 minute, I'd talk to you for a second! Same goes for my tracks. ;) So I'm sharing this with you. I wanted to have an upbeat version to bring it close to what I want to produce moving forward. I want to dance on my tracks instead of crying in a foeatus peosition under the shower the day after a weekend in the studio. I'm just kidding of course. Written by Richard Page Steve George John Lang, voiced by my brother Christian. Enjoy! Shortwave Learn to Fly rework of this beautiful song Broken Wings by Mr. Mister

Broken Wings - Shortwave Live and Love so free cover

After working on this song for more than a year and a half, learning my ways in modern electronic music production, I made many versions of this song. This particular mix hits me deeper. It was finished during the last month in the condo Jay and I used to call home, before parting ways about a year before. I felt I could sing this song to him, but I know now that all that time, I was singing it to me. I used an acapella from YouTube to work on the previous mixes, but in the process of eventually releasing it on [Rejoin Records ](http://www.rejoinrecords.com,), we had to have someone sing it to clear the rights as a cover. My brother is a successful singer/actor. Even if we’re worlds apart on our style of music and the nightlife, it was sweet to work together for the first time. Using a walk-in closet at a vocal booth was just too funny. Bothers, back in the closet for a day. I have decided to share this mix with you because it’s not going to be released after all. This version was never going to be. Nick at Rejoin was asking for a 6-minute version and a 3-minute version for streaming platforms. But after working over two years on this, it’s time for me to move on. I like these few mixes the way they are: imperfect, unfinished. This project was a way for me to learn the software again after 18 years. I couldn’t imagine all the emotions I channeled through the process and I cherish them. But it’s time for me to move on. Featuring my little brother Christian on the vocals. Disclaimer: These are rough vocals. We were supposed to re do the vocals once the song was getting close to being finished. There is no mastering done on it either It’s not club quality but good enough For your ears only. Written by Richard Page Steve George John Lang. Broken Wings - Shortwave Live and Love so Free

Eighteen years after I closed Shortwave Studio, after losing the passion that had kept me so busy in the studio, this new guy I met couldn’t belive it. I was glowing, going down memory lane, taking him through my catalogue, chilling out after (((Day 1))) I was listing all the reasons why I hadn’t produced for all those years. “It’s been too long, the software has changed too much. I used to know my equipment so well that I knew how to synthesize sounds, program beats and sequence those trippy climaxes before even stepping foot in the studio. It’s bringing me more frustrations than satisfaction, browsing through menus trying out plugins and feeling clueless in Logic Pro, nowadays.” I know those words by heart, having repeated them over the years. But they didn’t work on this new guy I just met, weeks ago. “It sounds to me like you’re selling yourself short! Don’t sell yourself short”. Those words really resonated with me through the following week. I got the latest Logic Pro, u-he Diva and this vocal from the 80s that I couldn’t get out of my head for the past year, following Jay and I’s parting ways. There are many versions of this rework through 2024, as I got more and more comfortable with the software. This mix was finished on my birthday at the end of November, after almost a year of Fooling Around With The Vibrations. It was the first time I actually enjoyed what I had done, even if it’s clearly not perfect. I used a beautiful acapella by INtrmzzo ripped from a YouTube video captured by a hand camera, thinking I was going to have someone sing later on, but I decided to keep this vocals for this unfinished version. The label that released a remix pack of one of my old classics wanted to release it, but I had to make a six-minute version and have someone else sing as clearing the rights with Warner and Mr. Mister was not in the cards. This is a tribute to them. Working on this song over the last two years has stirred up all sorts of emotions. Richard Page, Steve George and John Lang wrote such beautiful words, and the [iNtrmzzo](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgBrafPtFt8) performance is just stunning. This is my take on it. Enjoy!
