Ear Read This

I just listened to your episode on the Alliterative Morte Arthure (1400), about which I’m writing a monograph, and I found your episode accurate, informative, and very engaging. The presentation is learned (scholarly) but accessible. The host knows his stuff and does his homework. The production value is high! I’m looking forward to listening to more episodes. Thank you!

Podcasts have democratized broadcasting in a way that allows people passionate about a subject a voice anyone can hear. These two deserve to be heard and upon hearing them you’ll be grateful for their passion and humor.

I like the content of what the two hosts provide, and the 101, 201 format. BUT, and this is a big qualifier; and I am no prude, the episodes have way too many f-bombs. When a speaker uses the f-word as an adjective, a noun, an exclamation, an adverb, etc, it rubs many listeners, me included, the wrong way. Don’t get me wrong, I use that word myself once in a while but not in the course of my job and not in every other sentence. Clearly when talking about one of the greatest writers of all time, you would think they could can use better language themselves. After listening to three podcasts; and wincing every time that word is thrown about, I’m done with them. There are much better Shakespeare podcasts out there that are more gentle on a listener’s ears.

I've been looking for a good literary podcast for a while now. The problem is, I've only been able to find boring, stuffy ones. Then I found this awesome podcast! It's the perfect blend of being informational with a bit of raunchiness that can make readers of modern fiction interested in the classics. The 20,000 Leagues episode had me actually laughing out loud. Great stuff!
