    Know the Truth

    We live in a moment where truth feels contested and confusion comes easy. John wrote into a similar situation, a church shaken by influential voices distorting who Jesus is. His response helps us stay grounded by asking three simple questions. Where are we?John says, “the last hour is here” (1 John 2:18). The Bible teaches that these last days began with the arrival of Jesus (Hebrews 1:1–2), were secured through His sacrifice (Hebrews 9:26), and are now marked by the Spirit dwelling in us (1 Peter 1:20; Acts 2). We are not waiting for clarity, we already have it. Yet many voices still compete for our attention and devotion. Jesus warned this would happen. Many will come and deceive (Matthew 24:5). So we should not be surprised by the noise. We have been prepared for this. Who is He?This is the dividing line.“Anyone who says that Jesus is not the Christ is a liar” (1 John 2:22). To reject Jesus outright or to redefine Him as merely a teacher or moral example is to miss Him entirely. John makes it plain. “Anyone who denies the Son does not have the Father, but whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also” (1 John 2:23). Jesus is the Son of God and the Savior of the world (1 John 4:14–15). To diminish Him is to dismiss Him. What should our response be?“Remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning” (1 John 2:24). Remain. Abide. Stay connected. The Spirit of God is in you, guiding you into truth (1 John 2:20, 27). This is not about chasing something new. It is about holding fast to what you already know is true. In a world full of competing voices, stay anchored in Christ.

    Love of the World: Deception to Destruction

    “Do not love the world…” (1 John 2:15) This isn’t just about avoiding things. It’s about examining our loves. Our actions reveal our affections. And underneath many of our desires is something we don’t always see at first. Deception that leads to destruction. John defines “the world” as a way of living that is centered on self and disconnected from God. The lust of the flesh. The lust of the eyes. The pride of life. And here’s the reality… The world cannot give you what you need.It cannot give you what it promises.It cannot give you what will last. “The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.”(1 John 2:17) So this week, slow down and ask a better question. Not just what am I doing, but why am I doing it? Bring your desires into the light. God is not trying to take life from you. He is leading you into life that is truly life!

    Stop Lying to Yourself

    This Sunday we discovered something about the truth: you don’t always know the truth about you. And as long as we live in denial or self-deception, we can’t experience the freedom Jesus offers. John says it plainly: God is light. In Him there is no darkness at all. If we want to walk with Him, we have to step into the light. Here are the key takeaways: We are free when we stop lying to others.Following Jesus is not just what we claim to believe, it’s how we live. Walking in the light means our lives begin to align with our faith, and real fellowship with God and others grows from that place. We are free when we stop lying to ourselves.We all have a tendency to justify and rationalize sin. But when God’s grace is at work, we begin to see clearly. And when we confess, He meets us with forgiveness, not rejection. We are free when we stop lying about God.God is not just loving or just holy, He is both. When we distort who He is, we either excuse sin or drown in shame. The truth leads us to real freedom. We are free when we rest confidently in the finished work of Jesus.When we do sin, we have an Advocate. Jesus stands for us, not against us. Our hope is not in our performance, but in His finished work. Step into the light this week. Be honest with God. What you bring into the light, He meets with grace.
