EP12: The Loss Of An Icon, Sir Patrick Stewart

The Wildcard Protocol is back to its regularly scheduled programming! After spending the past several weeks getting to know the incredible people behind The Wildcard HQ through The Confidant Chronicles, Jon returns with a more personal and reflective episode. First, we take a moment to remember the legendary Sir Patrick Stewart. From his unforgettable portrayal of Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men films to the lasting impact he has left on generations of fans, Jon reflects on what Stewart's work meant to him growing up and how his passing changes the anticipation surrounding Avengers: Doomsday. Then, we turn our attention to the gaming industry and the closure of BioWare and cancellation of the next Mass Effect. As someone who holds the original Mass Effect trilogy close to his heart, Jon shares his conflicting feelings about the studio's closure, its struggles over the years, and EA's reported decision to prioritize Star Wars Battlefront. Was BioWare still capable of delivering the Mass Effect experience fans were hoping for, or had the writing been on the wall for years? Along the way, Jon shares updates on The Wildcard Protocol's return to a biweekly release schedule, the remaining episodes of The Confidant Chronicles, and what's coming next on stream. It's an episode about legacy, nostalgia, difficult goodbyes, and appreciating the stories and people that shaped us. 🎙️ Join the conversation! What is your favorite Patrick Stewart performance? Confidant Chronicles: Meet The Mods – Quinn (Quinnchillai)

Confidant Chronicles returns for Part 3, and this time, we're sitting down with Quinn! What happens when you sit down with someone whose interests range from anime and gaming to science, philosophy, and just about everything in between? You get a conversation that could go in a hundred different directions! In this episode of The Wildcard Protocol, Jon The Wildcard welcomes fellow streamer, Discord moderator, and friend Quinn for a conversation that explores the many sides of who he is. From the deeper storytelling of Vinland Saga and the nostalgia of Nintendo classics to the future of the MCU, Magic: The Gathering, and thought-provoking questions about human consciousness, there's no shortage of topics to dive into. But beyond the nerdy discussions, we get a more personal look at Quinn's life, his long-distance relationship, his passion for learning and teaching others, and the friendships he's built through streaming. We also revisit how Jon and Quinn first crossed paths, how a passionate debate about The Last of Us helped spark their friendship, and what being part of The Wildcard HQ community means to them both. Because Confidant Chronicles isn't just about the people who help run the community. It's about discovering the personalities, passions, and stories that make them who they are. Join us for another episode filled with laughs, meaningful conversations, passionate debates, and a reminder that sometimes the best friendships begin with a simple conversation.

EP11: Loki, Hulk, Doom & the Multiverse Collapsing?!

Episode 11 of The Wildcard Protocol is here, and we’ve got a LOT to talk about. First, we’re jumping back into the Marvel bag after watching Avengers: Endgame Encore. I break down my experience seeing Endgame back in theaters, my issue with the Infinity Vision exclusive content, and—most importantly—the new scenes setting the stage for Avengers: Doomsday. What is Loki doing with Steve Rogers? Why is Doctor Doom coming to collect Bruce Banner? What happened to the thousands of universes disappearing from the TVA’s multiverse? And just how much of what we saw could be setting up the beginning of Doomsday? Then we move over to Resident Evil, a movie I went into with extremely low expectations… and walked out of genuinely enjoying. I talk about why its ground-level approach to Raccoon City worked for me, the little references to the games, and why Resident Evil fans might want to give it a chance—even if it isn’t the adaptation they were expecting. On the gaming side, we’ve got one of the strangest Xbox stories I never expected to discuss: Halo potentially moving forward under Activision. What could an Activision-developed Halo actually look like? Could the series benefit from a fresh start, or are we about to get Call of Duty wearing a Master Chief helmet? Plus, I answer an Ask a Wildcard question about rising streaming prices, ads, subscription fatigue, and whether “sailing the high seas” is about to make a major comeback. We also have some Wildcard Protocol housekeeping, Discord updates, the possible return of TikTok streams, and a look ahead at spooky season with Madison, The Evil Within, Dead Space and more.
