AEIOU Ask Questions Emphasize Words Illustrate Other Scriptures Use PROAPT Pray Read Observe 3 Questions Apply Pray Tell Manuscript Bible Study Type the entire chapter or book. Read the chapter or book twice. Highlight all the pronouns different colors. Circle all the verbs or actions. Underline conjunctions and comparisons like if, then, but, and, or therefore. Box any repeated phrases or ideas. Pencil in the margins themes or lessons. Write down unfamiliar words to look up. Create your own subsections for parts of the chapter or book. Secret Church = How to Study the Bible PRACTICE OF THE WEEK:Read Scripture about nature out in nature. (Genesis 32:11-13, Psalm 19:1, Psalm 23) Make Scripture into music (Psalm 96, 147, 149, 150,) Engage your senses while reading (John 6:35, 2 Corinthians 2:15-16) Touch objects that correlate to what you are reading Nail for crucifixion, oil for annointing, drink water for living water. Taste bread when you read of the “bread of life” Surround yourself with symbols that point to Scripture. (2 Sam. 22:2-4, Matt. 5:13) Read and then do for others (1 John 3:17, Philippians 2:2-4) Focus on a single word or attribute of God. (1 Cor. 13, Prov. 3:3, 1 John 4:16, 1 Peter 4:8) Find all Scripture that shows this. Research connections that show God’s sovereignty (Genesis 28:10-12, John 14:6) Reread in solitude and quiet (Matthew 26:36, Romans 5:6-8, Hebrews 11)
