Man Listen...Should Black Podcasts Give MAGA a Platform? Uncle Luke, Byron Donalds and the Media

There are seven Black candidates running for governor this year. Why is almost nobody talking about it? On this episode of The Man Listen Show, Marv B, Aryka, and Lav run through the Black candidates for the governor's mansion: Wes Moore, Keisha Lance Bottoms, Aaron Ford, David Crowley, Jermaine Johnson, and MAGA Republicans Byron Donalds and John James. They break down why Byron Donalds may be the most dangerous of them all: he can code switch. Then the crew argues about a real question for Black media. Should Uncle Luke, Earn Your Leisure, or even this show give MAGA candidates a platform? C says yes. Marv says not on his watch. Eureka says bring them on and hold their feet to the fire. From there, the conversation covers corporate media consolidation, journalists who won't push back, political fatigue as a strategy, Monsanto suing farmers, and why you don't actually own your music, books or video games anymore. Plus a ruling on green bubbles that nobody asked for. We are the blackest radio show on the internet, operating on a no-hating frequency. 100% real, 100% Black, all the time. https://youtu.be/H0ag500D7wE Follow us: Instagram/Facebook: @manlistenshow Subscribe on YouTube and hit the bell — drop a comment and tell somebody about the blackest radio show on the internet. 0:00Cold open + Eureka's bookEureka promotes Unsolicited Marriage Advice 1:00Welcome to The Man Listen ShowShow intro, hoodies, Cash App, follow the show 2:307 Black candidates for governorMarv lists the candidates and the states 5:00MAGA talking points vs. real problemsEureka on deregulation, understaffed agencies, Florida hurricane prep 7:40"I'd rather eat"Gas prices, culture war issues and why people vote against their wallets 9:30Byron Donalds can code switchWhy Donalds is different from Ben Carson style Black Republicans 11:30Virginia and identity politicsThe MAGA Black woman candidate who "got housed" 13:00Uncle Luke and Byron DonaldsWas Luke equipped to push back? Man Listen...Converse Is Asking To Be Canceled & Jasmine Crockett, Chris Brown & More Controversy.

TEXANS: the deadline to register for the November 3 election is MONDAY, OCTOBER 5. Check your registration now at VoteTexas.gov. More than a million Texans were recently placed on the voter suspense list and have until Oct. 5 to update their address. Converse put out an ad. A lot of people looked at it and saw a noose and a Klan hood. Converse apologized. The question on the table: is "sorry" worth anything if it doesn't cost you anything? Marv B, Lav and Aryka start with a pair of Chucks and end up at the whole architecture of Black spending power: why boycotts don't hold, who gets rich off trolling us, and what it would actually take to move money on purpose. Along the way: Jasmine Crockett honoring Chris Brown and Usher, what the Congressional Record actually is, whether "I'm not political" is ever an acceptable answer, and the cranberry sauce that almost broke the Target boycott. https://youtu.be/3WgUuJGIIVI Follow us: Instagram/Facebook: @manlistenshow Subscribe on YouTube and hit the bell — drop a comment and tell somebody about the blackest radio show on the internet. 00:30 Welcome to the Man Listen Show 01:15 Do y'all wear Chucks? 02:30 The Converse ad 05:00 Did it hit you right away? 08:30 An apology or a PR statement? 11:00 Don't say sorry, show it 12:30 A history lesson on who was doing the lynching 13:30 Nike, Kyrie, and what a boycott costs 16:30 When they erase it from the curriculum 18:30 COINTELPRO and why we stay disjointed 20:30 The AI image that tried to gaslight us 22:30 Wrestling the pig 24:00 The grift that pays 25:30 Texas midterms: Senate and governor 27:30 Jasmine Crockett, Chris Brown and Usher 31:00 Damned if she does 33:30 What the Congressional Record actually is 35:00 The voter registration moment that got missed 37:00 "I'm not political" 40:00 Macklemore and the third rail 42:00 Holding Black celebrities to a different standard 45:00 Can Chris Brown grow up? 47:30 Who the concert really paid 48:30 Back to Converse: how we gonna move? 50:30 Nike's stock problem 52:00 Sunk cost: keep your Chucks 53:30 Black-owned alternatives 55:00 Buy the everyday stuff Black 56:30 The cranberry sauce dilemma 58:00 Register to vote, Texas 🎙️ Like, comment, and subscribe for more real talk. 🎧 Man Listen… Tune in now: https://youtu.be/3WgUuJGIIVI 📢 Support the Show 🛒 Grab official The Man Listen Show gear:  https://the-man-listen-show.square.site/ 💰 Cash App: $manlistenshow 🔗 Follow us: IG & FB @manlistenshow #ManListenShow #BlackPodcast #BlackMedia  #converse #nike #jasminecrockett #chrisbrown

Man Listen...14 Days, No Power: What Happened to Gary, Indiana

On this episode of The Man Listen Show the crew discusses how Gary, Indiana went fourteen days without power in the middle of August after a derecho tore through the city. Surrounding communities got their lights back in days. Gary is 80 percent Black. National media barely touched it. The crew gets into whether that gap is racism, neglect, or the compounding result of a century of disinvestment that only looks like a weather story. Then we get into Laura Loomer's attacks on Black women in office, the grift economy that pays Black commentators to punch down, who is still shopping at Target, and the 92 polling locations Tarrant County just shut down. Marv B and Aryka break down the National Association of Black Journalists giving Stephen A. Man Listen...The Tragedy of Nolan Wells and Why Is Hakeem Jeffries So Dissapointing?

On this episode of The Man Listens Show, the crew breaks down the death of 18-year-old Nolan Wells, a Black teen found dead after his all-white group of friends left him alone on a Mississippi island for July 4th — and took his phone. We dig into the judge whose son was on that trip, the pattern of Black people dying in "accidents" around white peers, and what it means to raise Black kids in white spaces.  Then we shift to politics: House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries refusing to back a bill limiting military aid to Israel, AIPAC's influence, and whether holding Democrats accountable is a distraction Black voters can't afford right now. Man Listen...Watch The Blame Game on Black Voters

The Man Listen Show breaks down the political moment. After the New York primaries, Zohran Mamdani emerges as a kingmaker as his DSA candidates sweep, and the crew asks why the blame is landing on Black representatives like Hakeem Jeffries and Jasmine Crockett. We get into the policies actually moving people, universal child care, rent freezes, potholes filled, and why enthusiasm beats the old guard. From there the conversation goes deep: the idea of the liberal racist, whether America runs on one corporate party with two faces, how infrastructure dollars flow to some neighborhoods and skip others, the prison pipeline, and the real budget burden carried by anchor cities. Then we turn South. Georgia is now a majority minority state, Keisha Lance Bottoms is running for governor, and the crew debates Stacey Abrams, voter apathy, rural Black voters, and whether Atlanta is still the Black Mecca or if DC, Charlotte, or the South Side of Chicago have a claim. We close on Trump's health, DEI rollbacks, and the Black women pushed out of federal jobs. Keep it 100 percent real and 100 percent Black all the time. The Man Listen Show sits down with Marv B to break down the inaugural Active Black Dad Leadership Conference, a free half day gathering for Black men in Topeka, Kansas on Saturday, June 27, 9 AM to 12 PM at Hillcrest Community Center.
