    In the World

    Send us Fan Mail In this episode, Pastor Josh reminds us how important it is to carry the GOOD news with us into the world.  John 17:13-19 13 “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified. Matthew 28:16-20 16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Philippians 1:21 21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. Philippians 1:15-18 15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. 18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. 1 John 9-11 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 Thessalonians 2:1-12 You know, brothers and sisters, that our visit to you was not without results. 2 We had previously suffered and been treated outrageously in Philippi, as you know, but with the help of our God we dared to tell you his gospel in the face of strong opposition. 3 For the appeal we make does not spring from error or impure motives, nor are we trying to trick you. 4 On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts. 5 You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed—God is our witness. 6 We were not looking for praise from people, not from you or anyone else, even though as apostles of Christ we could have asserted our authority. 7 Instead, we were like young children among you. Just as a nursing mother cares for her children, 8 so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well. 9 Surely you remember, brothers and sisters, our toil and hardship; we worked night and day in order not to be a burden to anyone while we preached the gospel of God to you. 10 You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed. 11 For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, 12 encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.

    Being Transformed Part 5

Philippians 4:13 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Hebrews 13:5 5 “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Jeremiah 33:3 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ Isaiah 26:3 3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Philippians 4:19 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Psalm 23:1 1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Proverbs 23:7 7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. Matthew 8:13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you." And his servant was healed that same hour. 1 John 4:16 16 …God is love,… 1 John 3:1 1 See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. John 10:10 10 …I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. 1 John 4:9 9 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. John 3:16 16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:17  17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. Romans 8:31 31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? John 10:18 18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.     Living the Transformed Life

Romans 6:14  14 For sin shall not have dominion over you,… 1 Peter 2:1-2 1 So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech. 2 Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment,  1 Peter 2:3  3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. Psalm 1:2 2 But they delight in the law of the Lord,   meditating on it day and night. James 5:16  16 …The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16 16 …The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. Ephesians 6:12 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Luke 10:19 19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:17 17 …saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” 1 John 5:14 14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. Philippians 2:9-10 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,… Acts 3:6 6 Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” Galatians 2:20 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

    Being Transformed

Isaiah 5:20 20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;  Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;… Matthew 7:21 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven,… Matthew 7:23 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ Ephesians 4:25-30 25 Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another. 26 “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, 27 nor give place to the devil. 28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. 29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.  Ephesians 4:31 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Ephesians 4:32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. Psalm 97:10 10 You who love the Lord, hate evil! Romans 12:9 9 Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 2 Thessalonians 3:10 10 …If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. 2 Corinthians 2:11 11 lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices. 1 Peter 2:24 24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

    Making a Change

If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. Proverbs 23:7 7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. 2 Corinthians 10:5 5 …bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, Jeremiah 29:11 11 For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Matthew 15:3 3 Jesus replied, “And why do you, by your traditions, violate the direct commandments of God? Mark 7:7. 7 …Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ 1 Thessalonians 5:22 22 Abstain from every form of evil. 2 Corinthians 10:5 5 …bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, Matthew 12:43-45 43 “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.” Colossians 3:2 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. Joshua 1:8 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. John 12:4-6 4 But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said, 5 “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” 6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it.     Be Holy and Acceptable to God

    Be a Good Steward

For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 16:1-13 1 He also said to His disciples: “There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and an accusation was brought to him that this man was wasting his goods. 2 So he called him and said to him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward.’ 3 “Then the steward said within himself, ‘What shall I do? For my master is taking the stewardship away from me. I cannot dig; I am ashamed to beg. 4 I have resolved what to do, that when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.’ 5 “So he called every one of his master’s debtors to him, and said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’ 6 And he said, ‘A hundred measures of oil.’ So he said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’ 7 Then he said to another, ‘And how much do you owe?’ So he said, ‘A hundred measures of wheat.’ And he said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’ 8 So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light. 9 “And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, (wealth)  that when you fail, they may receive you into an everlasting home. 10 He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. 11 Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12 And if you have not been faithful in what is another man’s, who will give you what is your own? 13 “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” Romans 14:12 12 So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. 2 Corinthians 5:10 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Jeremiah 17:9 9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? Matthew 15:19 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. Proverbs 3:5-7 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. James 1:5 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Haggai 2:8 8 ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the Lord of hosts. Luke 22:19 19 …do this in remembrance of Me.” 1 Corinthians 11:26 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. Matthew 26:28 28 for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many. Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

    Invest in God

Proverbs 3:9-10 9 Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. 10 Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine. 3 John 2 2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.  Deuteronomy 8:18 18 “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, Proverbs 10:22 22 The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it. 1 Timothy 6:10 10 For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.
