Episode 78: The Podcast Finds a Way

Our deepest apologies for making you wait so long for the return of your favorite podcast, but get ready for a marathon episode worthy of the runtime of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.  This epic - not just in length - episode kicks off with a discussion about Austin Powers and Verizon, observations about James Bond and Jeff Bezos, as well as rare book and podcast recommendations before your regularly scheduled programming of Movies We’ve Seen since last time (25:05), TV Talk (2:13:04), and Entertainment News/Upcoming Trailers and Stuff (2:29:40).  Then Patrick continues to share his gift by absolutely crushing this latest edition of What Year Did That Come Out Again? (2:56:27), trying his hand at Spielberg alien movie Tomato Talk (2:58:33) and providing a Hidden Gem recommendation (3:03:00) before we allow you to get back to less entertaining real life.   Episode highlights include discussions about the brilliance of Obsession, the brilliance of Tuner, the brilliance of Pressure, the brilliance of The Invite, how many great movies we’ve already gotten in 2026, how theaters are back(, baby!), the Jackass crew, Minion movie love, our lukewarm responses to recent Spielberg and Nolan, a glowing endorsement of the Girl Scouts of America, dinosaurs onscreen, a shared love of Leo Woodall, Zendaya’s best performance picks, Statham carrying the R-rated action movie torch, being burned out on musician biopics, Hitchcock talk, the lasting excellence of La La Land, the appropriate pacing for crowd pleasing flicks, the fantastic and ever-improving movie scene in LA, continued Trek talk, the unforgivable sin of changing a movie years after its release, and the problem with blockbuster movie pre-sale tickets.  The Movies N Shit podcast WILL return in Episode 79.

Episode 76: Stuff Patrick Won’t Watch (and other stuff too)

This episode kicks off with a quick Oscar recap before your regularly scheduled programming of Movies We’ve Seen since last time (26:25), TV Talk (1:06:27), and Entertainment News/Upcoming Trailers and Stuff (1:36:20).  Then Patrick continues to share his gift by absolutely crushing this latest edition of What Year Did That Come Out Again? (1:55:46), and also doing pretty good at an Oscar themed Tomato Talk (1:58:18).  Finally, Patrick provides a Hidden Gem recommendation (2:03:15) before we lovingly say goodbye and invite all of our listeners to be heroes.   Episode highlights include tributes to maybe our favorite onscreen mom, soldier and quarterback, as well as the all-time martial arts champion of meme production, also — discussions about cool, new microphones, Patrick winning this year’s Oscar ballot competition, James Bond movies and the birth of the action movie genre, a live defense against crows, observations of lizard push-ups, Jessie Buckley, Project Hail Mary and the confusingly poor decisions of Disney Star Wars, Patrick’s problems with Star Trek, Patrick’s problems with hidden camera shows, Kelly’s problems with Shrinking, and Patrick’s excitement and fear of Stephen Colbert taking a crack at writing a Lord of the Rings movie.  Shout-out to longtime listener and friend of the podcast, Kevin, for his thrilling video message tribute to the magnificent cinematic poetry that is Point Break.    Someday the podcast’s gonna end (but not today).
