    COME AND SEE | "Come and See a Land of Scarcity"

    One of the first things Jesus did in his public ministry was invite people to become his disciples. In the first chapter of John's gospel, he used the phrase "come and see" as part of that invitation. To "see" means to observe and listen within a specific real-world context and this fall we will specifically be looking at the character of the land in the Bible. As we continue to study the land as "character" in the Bible, we examine how immediately following the call of Abram, two verses later, there was a famine in the land. Why? What did this mean? Why was the land constantly having famines along with other issues. The week, Pastor Karla talks about how famine reveals the limits of the land to invite dependence on God.     COME AND SEE | "Come and See the Chosen Land"

    One of the first things Jesus did in his public ministry was invite people to become his disciples. In the first chapter of John's gospel, he used the phrase "come and see" as part of that invitation. To "see" means to observe and listen within a specific real-world context and this fall we will specifically be looking at the character of the land in the Bible. In the first sermon of our Fall Series, Pastor Karla opens a familiar passage, but points out an odd piece of the story that probably none of us have stopped to examine deeper...The tree of Moreh at Shechem. It is through this often overlooked part of the passage that reveals how God calls Abram to a specific land.     CINEMA SUNDAYS | "The Light for All Time"

    This summer, we explore themes from popular films alongside Scripture, uncovering how God's truth speaks through the stories we love. From adventure and sacrifice to redemption and hope, each week reminds us that God is present in every part of our story—inviting us into something greater. This week is our last week in the Cinema Sundays Series. Our Director of Men & Youth Ministries, Ryan Silvia, closes out the summer with the epic journey of a young moisture farmer turned Jedi named Luke Skywalker. In the movie Star Wars: A New Hope, Ryan discusses how in a universe of shadows, Christ is always the light that dispels the darkness.     This summer, we explore themes from popular films alongside Scripture, uncovering how God's truth speaks through the stories we love. From adventure and sacrifice to redemption and hope, each week reminds us that God is present in every part of our story—inviting us into something greater. What is your dream? What is your desire in life? This morning, we examine our dreams through the lens of Scripture interacting with the fantastical movie La La Land. We look at the dream of Solomon, and how God gives him "whatever he asks." Sounds simple enough. Is there a catch?...Pastor Karla shares how God loves our dreams! God has given us our dreams-- especially that ones that align with God's Kingdom.     CINEMA SUNDAYS | "Seeing Clearly Again"

    This summer, we explore themes from popular films alongside Scripture, uncovering how God's truth speaks through the stories we love. From adventure and sacrifice to redemption and hope, each week reminds us that God is present in every part of our story—inviting us into something greater. In our movie this week, A Beauitufl Mind, we see the thin space between reality and delusion. When we look at Scripture there are many of these "thin places" between our phyiscal reality and divine reality. In our Bible passage this week, Pastor Karla examines how the gospel restores how we see our reality, and God's truth replaces our illusions.     CINEMA SUNDAYS | "Redemption for the Outcasts"

    This summer, we explore themes from popular films alongside Scripture, uncovering how God's truth speaks through the stories we love. From adventure and sacrifice to redemption and hope, each week reminds us that God is present in every part of our story—inviting us into something greater. This week, we look at a movie that became popular, first, on the theatrical stage - Les Miserables. Les Miz (as it is commonly refered) is first and foremast a parable. A story that is not true or historical, but invites the listener or watcher into it in such a way that the audience wishes it were true because it is relatable. It also leads the audience to take a step of action. Jesus does the same with his parables that he tells. Pastor Karla conveys to us how God reaches us at your worst so He can lift us into our best.     This summer, we explore themes from popular films alongside Scripture, uncovering how God's truth speaks through the stories we love. From adventure and sacrifice to redemption and hope, each week reminds us that God is present in every part of our story—inviting us into something greater. Everyone remembers the iconic scene from the movie Rocky in which Rocky Balboa bounds up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and looks over the city and raises his voice in victory - a victory he has yet to experience in reality, but one he is now prepared to encounter. This week, Rev.     CINEMA SUNDAYS | "Search for Home"

    This summer, we explore themes from popular films alongside Scripture, uncovering how God's truth speaks through the stories we love. From adventure and sacrifice to redemption and hope, each week reminds us that God is present in every part of our story—inviting us into something greater. The Wizard of Oz is a beloved classic that seems to be in the childhood memory in all of us. It utters one of the most famous and enduring lines in cinema history, and that is the line, "There's no place like home." Dorothy repeats this line over and over and comes to apprerciate her place and time in life. For us as Christians, we understand the sentiment of this line in our spiritual lives. We have a deep desire to experience home. We also know that our ultimate home isn't a place, it's a Person.
