Starting off proceedings on the EP is the title track ‘Killah Tape’ establishes his sonic palette from the outset, with driving, high-energy drum work alongside stretched vocals chops. Next up is ‘Hoodlum’, which layers breaks and throbbing grooves under an otherworldly, warped vocal for create dark, intense atmospheres. While third track ‘Cave Walk’ slows the tempo to 107 bpm for a writhing techno-dancehall hybrid with weighty with some off-kilter synths and bass wobbles, it’s a testament to PVLV’s knack for a subtle curveball.
