POSTCAST: Phillies GIFTED 10 Baserunners and lose to the Angels 6-5!

POSTCAST: Phillies GIFTED 10 Baserunners and lose to the Angels 6-5!

The Philadelphia Phillies loss to the Los Angeles Angels 6-5 in the first game of their three-game series. The Phillies were done in by the inability to hit with runners in scoring position (1-for-9) and another poor outing from relief pitcher SerAnthony Dominguez who enters the game in the 7th inning with the score tied at 4. Dominguez went on to allow two runs to cross the plate.

Segment 1: THREE BIG THINGS: 1) 10 Free Baserunner and a balked in run and the Phillies couldn’t win?!?! That’s terrible! 2) SerAnthony is cooked! Burned in the 7th inning by 3hits, 2 runs and a wild pitch! 3) Alec Bohm is still awesome, the Reigning NFL player of the week came up with three of the Phillies four RBI's.

Segment 2: Angels pitcher Griffin Canning was ALL OVER THE PLACE, but the Phillies gave him an easy out in the fifth by giving him a 5-pitch inning. Phillies inability to score more runs after Leadoff runners getting on in the 4th and 7th innings and unable to do more damage in the 5th inning with two runners on with one out.

Segment 3: Look ahead to game two of this Three-game series. Spencer Turnbull will start for the Phillies against the lefty Tyler Anderson of the Angels. One thing we need to see in game two, other than Dominguez NOT pitch, is Nick Castellanos get hot. Hit his first homer of the season in San Diego and has been doing better at getting on base. Tonight he smacked a liner to deep right, but Adell made a good play on it, slamming into the wall. Call me crazy, but he seems like a hot streak is just around the corner.

POSTCAST: Phillies Sweep Padres, Stott Homers Twice!

The Philadelphia Phillies completed the sweep of the San Diego Padres with an 8-6 win Sunday afternoon in San Diego. Bryson Stott powered the Phils with the first multi-homer game of his career. Stott hit two, 2-run home runs in the game, one coming in the 2nd inning the other in the 4th. Both times, Nick Castellanos battled back from being down in the count to work walks in front of Stott.

Segment 1: THREE BIGS THINGS: 1) Bryson Stott gets it going with 2 homers! Looks more like the guy we’ve seen for most of his career! 2) Alec Bohm is crushing baseballs! 9 ExtraBaseHits during his 12 game hit streak. 3) Why did Rob Thomson allow Walker to come out for the 7th inning?

Segment 2: Some great milestones for the Phillies to start the season. Things they haven’t done in almost a decade and a half….Also, Nick Castellanos’ patience at the plate, 3 walks

Segment 3: Looking ahead to the Phillies 3-Game series against the Angels!

POSTCAST: Phillies Win 5-1, but Suarez' Streak Snapped!

POSTCAST: Phillies Win 5-1, but Suarez' Streak Snapped!

The Philadelphia Phillies beat the San Diego Padres 5 to one behind an 8 inning one run performance by Ranger Suarez and a four RBI night by Alec Bohm.

Suarez stayed red hot to improve 5-0 in his 6 starts on the season, but tonight was little bitter sweet. Suarez Surrendered a solo home run to eggy Rosario with two outs in the 8th inning putting an end to his scoreless innings streak at 32.2 innings pitched. Ranger used 96 pitches to get through his 8 innings of work surrendering 3 hits while striking out 8.

Segment 1: THREE BIG THINGS: 1) Ranger Suarez is on fire! Every pitch is working for him! Tonight his sinker was the star of the show! Haven't been this excited about a Phillies starting rotation since 2011 with Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, Cole Hamels and Roy Oswalt! 2) Alec Bohm is every bit of a cleanup hitter! Clutch again tonight! 3) Whit Merrifield’s hustle! If Whit doesn't hustle on two different plays in the 5th inning the Phillies do not score one run, let alone the three they scored in that frame! Merrifield Beat out a throw with two outs for an infield single, then beat out another close play to take third on a Trea Turner Dribbler down the third baseline.

Segment 2: How this team is off to the best start since 2011. Alec Bohm’s success. Defense coming up huge in this game!

Segment 3: Phillies go for the sweep of the Padres tomorrow afternoon at 4:10. Taijaun Walker makes his first start of the season.

POSTCAST: Phillies BLAST 5 HRs, Nola Ks 10, beat Padres, 9-3

POSTCAST: Phillies BLAST 5 HRs, Nola Ks 10, beat Padres, 9-3

The Philadelphia Phillies smashed 5 home runs while Aaron Nola struck out 10 over 8 innings to beat the San Diego Padres 9-3.

Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, Brandon Marsh, Nick Castellanos and JT Realmuto all went yard for the Phils. For Marsh it was part of a 3-for-5 day with 3 RBI's. Alec Bohm extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a 3-for-5 day of his own.

The Phillies offense chases Padres’ Starter Joe Musgrove from the game after just 3.2ip. He allowed 7 runs on 8 hits, 4 home runs and 2 walks using 90 pitches.

Segment 1: THREE BIG THINGS: 1) Offense came to play with a 5 homer, 9 run, 13 hit performance. 2) Aaron Nola has now recorded an out in the 8th inning in 3 straight starts! 3) Defense was CLUTCH tonight!

Segment 2: Rob Thomson did two things tonight that were a little out of character: Nola pitched the 8th, despite being over 90pits and a 6-run lead. Topper also used SerAnthony (rightfully so) in a mop-up role in the 9th.

Segment 3: Pinch me moments with how well the Phillies are starting the season! Look ahead to game 2 of this 3-game series!
