Hi, I'm Rick Glassman, and I'm a goofy guy and a cute boy. As a kid, I had debilitating OCD. I still have a lot of “things.” The title of my podcast “Take Your Shoes Off” is a microcosm of my need for control and order in a world that... keeps their shoes on. I created this podcast to showcase a more serious side, as I have conversations with some of the funniest and most interesting people in the world. I’ve learned the language of comedy in an attempt to survive this shoes-on world, so of course there will be some goofs and spoofs, but think of this podcast as you being a fly on the wall, as opposed to being an audience member in a theatre. Please, take your shoes off, and enjoy!

Wow the Anderson Paak episode was something else. Such a great episode. Rick and Anderson’s kookyness went together so well.
Stop chewing into microphones: why do podcasters eat on mic?

Why do any of you podcasters think that it is ever okay to eat on mic? There’s nothing ideological to defend about doing so, more often than not it’s unnecessary to the show or episode, it is really just base, horrendously ill-mannered, altogether illogical considering the medium, and grossly—grossly—selfish. Just pause what you’re doing, take a break and come back to your recordings and conversations; or, don’t do it and wait to eat until you’re done. If you came to my job, or if I was performing for you, I wouldn’t find it acceptable to chew directly into your ear the whole time. It’s not charming, it’s not quirky, it’s not endearing. Anyone can skip ahead, of course, and drop in someplace in hopes of finding a moment where you continue your podcast without any incidental gustatory noise. For so many of you, though, this is a livelihood, or part of one, that benefits you a relaxed work environment or space. Eat before you go to work. Take a break. It’s not a far cry from having to listen to any of you defecate in an impossibly large, entirely tiled, embarrassingly resonate bathroom. I want to rate this show I’ve just started listening to and enjoying better but this is so discomforting to experience that this is very well a drop off for me.
