    We’re joined by comedian, therapist and friend John Gasper. The non-Gems and Gasp talk about why finding the right therapist is like dating, how to find a therapist if you don’t randomly have $150 to spare, and why comedy shouldn’t be used in place of therapy. Carly went from being the class clown in high school to now giving mental health presentations at Chicago Public Schools through NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Carly shares her own journey dealing with mental illness and why she finds volunteering to be essential as a comedian (and person). The gang also talks therapy, and a lot of stuff after the podcast, which sorry you missed it. Carly realizes she loves Zevia and is now addicted to it, which will lead her down another dark road. Rajshree offers a spiritual teacher’s wisdom for comedians, and she explains why spiritual practices like meditation actually make comics (and all public speakers) better performers. She offers some pretty mind-altering insight into what it means to live a spiritual life and what self-care really is (hint: it has nothing to do with what smoothie ingredients you use and everything to do with being fully present). Rajshree explains why being present is necessary for success in comedy, how she went from being a criminal prosecutor to an internationally-recognized expert on meditation, and why spirituality is for everybody.
