Shells And Hops Podcast

Ivan Alfonso and Joel Diaz

Shells and Hops is a podcast for beer reviews and turtle and tortoise descriptions and information. We also aim to "pair" turtles with the beer we are reviewing. This provides an entertaining, if not odd, view at two very different interests.

  1. Episode 1

    Born with a Crown

Joel and Ivan open season 2 with their review of the amazing Driftwood Brown beer from Ocean Lab Brewing in Puerto Rico and pair it with the equally amazing Crowned River Turtle (Hardella thurjii).

  2. Episode 1

    Born with a Crown (Spanish)

    Parker's Trippel Ripper

In a longer-than-usual episode Joel and Ivan take on two very different beers to review. 8. Episode 6

    Okavango Kandy

Joel and Ivan review Victory Breweing's unique collaboration beer with Tastykake, Peanut Butter Kandy Kake Porter and attempt to pair it with the unassuming but very personable Okavango Mud Turtle (Pelusios bechuanicus).

Joel and Ivan discuss two beers originally brewed in Puerto Rico and attempt to pair them with the blue eyed Colomban Wood Turtle (Rhinoclemmys melanosterna)

In this episode Joel and Ivan review 2 different Oktoberfest beers and pair them with two different chelonian families (Snakenecks and Sidenecks). Enjoy the controlled chaos these 2 appear to bring every single time.

  11. Episode 8
