ESOA Podcast 096 The Gnat & Mad_line

Hi everyone to a new episode of ESOA Podcast, and this time – I should mention this right away – we’re venturing into territory beyond 160 BPM. It’s Gabba time again. I reckon most of our older listeners first came across these hard styles back in the 90s – Hardcore and Gabba. And I think this style also has its place as a branch on our Electronic Music Tree. For this episode, I found two dear old friends who’ve agreed to put together a nice, hard-hitting set for us. Robert and Jan, aka The Gnat & Mad_line, are from Chemnitz. They’ve known each other since school days and gained their first musical experience at the former Kunstfabrik in Glösa. A memorable place where so many Chemnitz artists laid their foundations in the 90s. Having previously started out as solo artists – Robert, for example, under the name Violation – they have been performing together since 1999, beginning at their home venue, Club Achtermai in Chemnitz. Over the years, they have also played at venues such as Triebwerk in Dresden, Sky Club in Leipzig, Ndorphin Chemnitz or Tresor in Berlin. Their own productions and releases can be found under names such as Dropping Bomps, Hunted Souls or Never Burn Out on Hardrive Records. New month – new podcast, Welcome to your ESOA Podcast, now in its 95th Episode. Today’s guest is based in Marseille; his name is Ashley Nield. He is a Co-founder of the Paradigm Collective. His sets express powerful, dynamic Hardgroove and Hypnotic Techno. He released his first 4-Track EP in 2017 on the English label Taro Records. He naturally saw this as a personal success and a boost to his creative output, which was followed by further releases in 2018 and 2019. These were released on the Portuguese label Kepler Records and Sunburn Records in Marseille. He is currently devoting a great deal of time to Music. ESOA Podcast 094 Lonerist

Dear friends of contemporary electronic Music, Welcome to the ESOA Podcast. It’s sad to see how the world seems to be getting worse and worse. We should take a moment to reflect and appreciate how beautiful life is and I’d like to keep reminding you of that here with consistently great Music. After all, as we all know, Music helps to provide a positive counterbalance. And I can promise you right now that my guest today does just that with what I think is yet another wonderful and seemingly golden Dub Techno Set. His name is Lonerist and he hails from Scotland. Yet another artist whose active roots stretch all the way back to the 90s. He plays and produces everything from hip hop to deep house and electro, though he focuses very strongly on the dub techno genre. And that is precisely what he’s treating us to here today. His releases can be found on Labels such as Cold Tear, Crossfade Sounds, Piranha Siberia Dub, Verdant Recordings and Insectorama. He has already performed at major events and clubs such as ‘The Arches’ and ‘The Sub Club’ in Scotland, amongst others, and several of his dub sets can also be found on other techno podcasts. ESOA Podcast 091 TAEBASCO

Hello friends, and a peaceful and healthy New Year to you all. A new year is beginning, but we are continuing as usual. High quality, each and every artist anew. Always with an eye on the subculture, without any Tam Tam. This is also true of my guest today, Edmund Telasco, better known to many as TAEBASCO. He is a Mexican-Afro-Caribbean artist. Starting with performances at Munich locations such as Die Bank and Die Registratur Bar, he now lives in Barcelona. Edmond is artisticall and technically enthusiastic about music and sound. He is currently completing his electrical engineering training in the field of sound engineering. He closely follows the local scene in Barcelona and the artists associated with it, supporting them with a monthly podcast called ‘AMEBA’ on dublab.cat. His own focus is on techno from the late 90s and 2000s. He is currently also concentrating on his own music production. He describes his own sets as hybrid sets from CDJ and Vinyl with an aspiration to be an exclusively Vinyl DJ, which I would like to note here as a positive.
